Does anyone have any idea when the Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant & Market will open? I know it's sometime this summer but exactly when?

Yes, its going to be at CityWalk. I have never been to one but it seems it has many fans. Looking forward to trying it.

I had seen the one in NYC, but we went to the one in Daytona Beach last year! Soooo yummy!!!

I am trying to talk DH into going opening day/night. They are supposed to open July 1 and we are there from June 28-July 2 (leaving after the park that day). He doesn't want to go cuz of the "crowd" at grand opening....but WE can BE part of that crowd! Only thing I got goin' in my corner is BIL & SIL will be there with their troops....hopefully I can get THEM on my side and talk DH into it..... If everyone else wants to go....then, he'll go. ME? He says "no" ...so here's to talking him into it!

Bubba's Mom - Hope you get to go to opening. We are going to be at Universal the week before but are leaving Friday June 30. I really wanted to go here, but I'm like your husband - I don't want to fight the crowds opening week.

We don't have this one on our list. Only 5 nights & so many "must dos". Now, I'm wondering, if we should rethink our restaurants. Is this place that good? What is it about this restaurant that gives it such a loyal following? What other restaurant would you consider the food on par with? Any specific info. would be appreciated.

Because they gots jumbo shrimp, cajun shrimp, popcorn shrimp, ping pong shrimp, fried shrimp, shrimp in broth, new orleans shrimp, coconut shrimp, stuffed shrimp, shrimp steamed in beer, shrimp pasta, skewered shrimp, shrimp salad, shrimp sandwich... thats.. thats about it.

AlexandNessa: I've been to the one in Daytona last year and it was very, very good! Not sure what you mean by "entertainment gimmick ", but it's a nice restaurant. Very nice servers, very nice place.

Going by the one in Daytona, the only gimmick is the decor (the restaurant is heavily themed with pictures and "artifacts" on the wall). Occasionally the servers ask trivia questions, but no one is "in character" like at, say, the Adventurer's Club. Haven't heard anything about live music or any other enterainment, either.

Basically a straightforward restaurant. But one with good food and excellent service, at least in Daytona.

I love the Stop & Go signs at your table. For those of you who've never visited, you have a Stop & Go sign which you turn to Stop when you need a server to come by for a refill, if you're missing something, etc. Then Go means they can go about their merry way. Awesome right?
