is BTMRR any scarier than splash mountain or are both about the same level ? The reason I ask is I am afraid of roller coasters but I was able to "make it through"splash mountain. So now I am wondering if I should do BTMRR or pass ?

If you made it on Splash Mountain, you should have no problem with BTMRR. The big drop on SM is more intense than the twists and turns on BTMRR. Also, there's not any scary drops on BTMRR, ups and downs, but no significant drop. Enjoy!

Thunder Mountain is faster than Splash, but for me the drop at the end of Splash is scarier than all of Thunder. I don't like that feeling in my stomach, which I don't get on Thunder. I guess it depends on what you don't like about roller coasters, i.e. speed, heights, getting jostled around, etc. My sister's boyfriend and son don't like roller coasters and neither of them like Thunder Mountain.

I won't go on Splash - the drop is too scary for me (adult female). I have no problem with BTMMR - its fun but I don't find it scary. (I don't go on RNR either, nor TOT.) I have been on Splash fyi - a few times.

The drop on Pirates gets my stomach more than Splash does. Splash and BTMRR are both very tame and if you did Splash you'll have no trouble with BTM

I think they're sort of hard to compare, as they're quite different. Splash is a log flume ride that floats along the water, has a few smaller drops, followed by one large one. BTMRR is a true roller coaster. A rather tame one for sure, but a coaster nonetheless. It's much noisier (if that bothers you), it's faster (except for the big drop at the end of Splash)...though it's not "fast" by coaster standards. BTMRR is fairly "jerky" as it goes up and down a few times fairly quickly and has turns taken at speed, where Splash doesn't. The turns on BTMRR are also banked in spots, where Splash isn't.

To me, all in all, BTMRR is more intense. The singular drop on Splash is definitely much larger, higher, faster for sure. But the rest of Splash is less intense than BTMRR. Not trying to scare you at all, OP. As I said before, on the scale of roller coasters, I see BTMRR as very mild (maybe a 2 or 3 on a 1-10 scale), but it's still a coaster. I suggest trying it, but it's really hard to compare it to a log flume.

If the drop is what scares you then you should be fine.

Splash is obviously not a roller coaster so it never would have occurred to be to compare them. The twist and turns of BTMRR could be intense if you have a legitimate fear of roller coasters, but I don't find it to be particularly intense.

I love both rides but would agree that the drop at the end of splash is worse than btmrr. Big thunder does jolt you around a bit but the ride is much less intense if you sit at the front as it's always the first bit to ease over the drops and round the corners and the back gets dragged along behind....I love sitting at the back :goodvibes:goodvibes

What about coasters bothers you? If it's something other than a long drop, which BTMRR doesn't really have, then you may still be bothered by BTMRR...

I find BTMRR tame in comparison with, say, Space Mountain. Big Thunder is a 'round and round' type of coaster rather than one with big drops. Not that Space has big drops but it's much more intense because it's dark and jerky. Splash Mountain I wouldn't ever compare with BTMRR, except like the OP is doing, the 'scare' factor. I don't find Splash frightening at all, but I suppose if you spent the entire ride dreading the drop it could be so.

See I can't compare BTMRR to Splash. There's a couple of drops on Splash, but BTMRR is more like a runaway train where there's sharp turns to the right and left in addition to the drops.

There is no way anyone else can know how you will feel, and you won't know unless you try it. My wife doesn't like most roller coasters, but she finally tried BTMRR last year, and she loved it. Hers isn't a fear issue, though, it's a comfort issue.

Our family has several members who are afraid of any "real" coasters, and others who can't comfortably ride many coasters due to back/neck issues. The first group largely has no issue on BTMRR, the second, not so much. BTMRR is more bumpy and jerk-y, the Splash drop is definitely bigger than anything in BTM, but we find Splash to be a smoother ride, if that makes any sense. Also when my 7 y/o was 5, he didn't like Splash, SDMT, or Space Mountain much at all, but he loved BTMRR.

It depends what about roller coasters/thrill rides you don't like.
If you are afraid of drops then yeah you should definitely be able to handle BTMRR as there are mostly curved drops and a few very small bunny hills.
If its speed then I'd say skp BTMRR because its faster than most of Splash Mountain.

Just try it :) what's the worst that could happen? If you don't like it, close your eyes and it'll be over in a minute!
