BT knowledge sought

HI

I have BT broadband at £26.08/month and a BT phone - standard charge - both completely seperate packages from each other. Does anybody know of any packages that BT offer that combine both phone and broadband as BT are totally useless. I called them and the guy I spoke to said no packages were available and that I could cancel either if I wanted and switch to another provider. This was not what I wanted to hear as I'm happy with BT, just not their charges.

I am with a company called Utility Warehouse and they offer phone line and 8 meg broadband for £19.99 a month, if you have other services with them as well such as gas or electricity then you get free landline calls.

You might not get the discount being an existing customer, not sure.
These packages give you another line with free evening & weekend calls.

I would say that BT generally are an expensive broadband supplier, there are other good ISP's that will give you a better combined phone and broadband deal, although you will still have the BT line if you can't get cable.

Depending on your usage and monthly downloads, the mobile phone broadband choices are now just about getting competitive, and obviously if you want to travel with a laptop it's good.

As far as i know they are always "seperate" packages that come on the same bill.

The cheapest phone is £10.50 per month.
The cheapest broadband is £8.95 per month for the first 6 months, then £17.99 a month after for a 18 month contract.

Making it £19.45 for the first 6months, then £28.49 a month afterwards.

I was with BT on that same package for around a year - although i was happy with their service i could not justify paying £17.99 a month for a service that Sky now offers for free.

I now pay for my phone through BT and get my broadband through Sky for £5 (which is a better service than i was getting).

As an aside we are with Virgin and pay £37 a month for unlimited UK calls (under 60 mins, just hang up and call back!) a decent TV package (everything minus movies and sport) including their V+ (which is voted better than Sky+) and a very reliable broadband package. I think that's a pretty good deal.
Good luck on getting a deal, I think it's silly to throw away money on stuff like this....
My mum pays a furtune for what she gets from BT & Sky as that is all that is available in her area as it's very rural.

I was happy with BT but grudgingly swapped to TalkTalk as we had a baby and I was trying to save us money. I had my broadband and phone with BT.

I highly recommend TalkTalk, my phone/internet bill is half what it used to be, I get free calls 24/7 to Canada, US, Australia, Portugal, all the places I usually call. Internet is good, and I only pay around £24 a month for all of this including line rental. Can't beat the price.
