Training in Augusta, Ga. has been brutal for the past couple of days. I just got in from my evening run. I was planning on running 4-5 miles but with the heat was only able to crank out 3. Right now at 9:45 p.m. the air temp. id 94 degrees and the heat index in 101.

I feel your pain. It's been brutally hot here as well. Triple digits all week. My training has been confined to the gym. :sad2:

Don't feel bad... it's been the same here. Heat index yesterday was something like 115 where I'm at! Just make sure to be VERY careful excersizing in this heat, you need more fluids and electrolytes than you think you do. I took the easy way out!! Borrowed my MIL's treadmill for the summer!!

Here too. I thought it was just me. This last 2 weeks have been unbearable. I was going to run inside last night but the weather person said it was 92 but only 55% humidity. That is dry for us. I ended with 5 miles because the rain clouds came in and gave me some shade. But after 10 minutes of a very light rain, the humidity soared up. I ended shortly thereafter.

I have started getting up early on Saturdays to get a longer run in. If I'm out by 6:30 a.m. I can finish before it gets too bad. I really don’t like the treadmill and will stay away if I can help it but had relented to using it a few times these last 2 weeks. It's just not the same. It's the week nights that are killing me. I don’t really want to wait until 9:00 p.m. to run. Heck, I'm getting ready for bed at that time :)

Enjoy,
Duane

gsu1988- just this morning I heard the commentators on NPR talking specifically about how HOT it was in AUGUSTA yesterday! I think I'd go inside if I were you...;)

Then again, I can barely deal with the heat coming off the pavement at the gym parking lot! :lmao:

The weather forecasters said we would get a break on Sunday. The high will be something like 95. Call me crazy, but that doesn't sound like much of a break!

We are in the triple digit temp club too!!! I love summer, but this is crazy!!

Be safe everybody!!!

Erica:)

I feel really bad for you guys! I lived in FL for 15 yrs, didn't walk then but the heat & humidity is why we moved.

Disclaimer, not bragging, but it was 50 when I went out to do my 5 miles today. Although I was sweating by the time I got back in. I guess we did right with a move to a cooler climate!

Send some of that oool weather our way, please! :teeth:

It is brutal. Take it easy for sure WISH Team. I'm hot here but nothing like 3 digits.

Today it was only 76 today. Low 51. That's the bene's of living at 6400 ft. Just wait a few months and I wish I was somewhere else:(

Amen sister! It's 7:00am and already 90 degrees!:scared1: And I just saw our weather report and it's triple digits for at least the next 7 days. It's the gym for me as well! At least I have some happiness in knowing that come mid-Jan or Feb I can still run outside when many of our WISH teammates cannot.

In MI it has been mid to 90's a lot lately. And muggy as all get out. Any rain we hope to get, the lake fizzles it out before it even gets here. We are so bone dry it's terrible. I think we have had about an inch of rain in the last 6 weeks.

I have been running on the treadmill, downstairs with a fan blowing right on me. I just walk outside and am instantly sweating.

Currently in the mid 50s and raining in Connecticut. I guess the heat finally broke here ... for now anyway. Hummm, wondering whether to try and do another wet walk (nature's wet as opposed to perspiration induced) tonight or go with the TM.
