BRP true to their promise.

Jason,

I asked this on another board, but can you help me out here. IF this is not part of a "package" deal, what does that mean for me?? I have the MYW package booked at AKL, tell me that this doesn't mean I won't get the discount. :guilty:

IF it's a room only, does that mean I'd have to cancel my package??? We got the package for the dining......... oh lord, what to do?? Also, not sure if it matters or not, but my package is paid for.

Any info would be great.

I would think that the "public" rate would need to be slightly higher.
Maybe, but here's what Mousesavers has to say about BRP:

The Passholder Best Rate Program guarantees that Passholders will receive the "best room rate offered to the general public" (not including group rates, auction rates, rates conditioned on group/club memberships such as AAA, or special PIN-coded offers that have been sent out by e-mail and postcard) at that time for the room and nights booked. If Disney subsequently reduces the room rate "to the general public" for the same room and nights you booked online under this program, they will "automatically reduce your room rate to match that lower rate."

Mousesavers includes the quotation marks, but I've added the bolding. I suppose it could go either way, but if that quote is taken from Disney literature, I wouldn't expect Disney to lower BRP below GP, since they only promised to match, not beat.

After all, if two rates are both the lowest, then they are both the "best."

Yup, that's how I've read everything I've seen so far about BRP: That the BRP will aim to match the lowest available rate, not beat it.

Correct. If you book BRP and rate comes out cheaper BRP will match that rate.

wendypooh,

At this point nobody really knows if this is going to be a room code only or a package discount.

I am going to WL standard view BRP Jan 19-24th just called to see if my rate went down and they said not because the standard view is sold out so they do not have to match the new lower rate!!!! I think that is unfair!

That does seem pretty crappy. Did you ask about upgrading to a woods or courtyard view? It may end up costing about the same if they are "available" at the BPR rate.

We just made our first best rate ressie. Can anyone tell me how you go back to check your ressie at a later date? Thanks.

I have always thought the terminology confusing.

If they have to "match" then I can't see calling it the "Best Rate", it then becomes the "same" rate. :flower:

And if the rate is the same without the same restrictions of booking and cancellation, it is definitely not the best rate.

Now of course if and when this new discount for the public comes out there might not be any rooms left to book at discount except the high end ones.

What you're thinking of would be called a "better than all other options rate." :) That's not what Disney is offering.

I just called because I couldn't pull up my BRP ressie online and she said our rate had dropped at PO. She said they had credited our charge card the difference as you cannot have more than 1 nights deposit on a BRP room. So don't forget to subtract the refund from what you have paid off on your room or your balance due won't make sense. :earseek:

:rotfl2: I guess so.

My credit card got credited today for $29.00, the difference in deposit from the old rate to the new rate, AKL Std view room, January 2006.

How can this be? I have paid my entire stay from 02/21 to 03/08 in advance.

Possibly because I had pre-paid my AAA reservation, cancelledandapplied payment to BRP????

Did you book online through the BRP? It will only take one night and the differance on my original deposit was also refunded when they dropped the price.

If you did the cancel and rebook over the phone maybe that is how you prepaid everything.

Mine did too. (GF also went down $29 a night)
I had just made AP's for Cinderella's Character Breakfast so I had a $20 charge for that and a $29 credit on the same day. On the credit card statement it just says WDW Resort, so at first I was like "Huh?" :confused3 then checked this board and saw that the prices had dropped. Let's hope it keeps going down! :cool1: :cheer2:

I have BRP reservations for the Poly from 1/14-1/19. I understand the new rates don't begin until 1/16 but shouldn't the 3 nights (1/16-1/19) be reduced for my reservation? Right now I am still showing $273 for all 5 nights. It looks like starting 1/16 the rate is only $244. I think I should be credited the extra $29 for the 3 nights. Will they only use the first night as the rate for the whole trip no matter what the rates drop to? Thanks!

Shelley
