New to brownies this year. Each parent has to pick one of the
try-its - provide the supplies and go to the meeting to work on the project with the girls.

Anyone done this and had good results with a particular one?

Thanks for your help!

It actually worked out pretty well.
It gave the parents a chance to choose whatever they want and the kids loved it!
I copied (probably copyright infringement) the pages from the Try it book to help them.
Let me know if you want more specifics.
Good Luck!

Hi m&m's mom!

I am one of the parents who has to pick one of the try-its and
execute it! I'm looking for ideas about which one to pick and
what kind of activity to do.

Thanks!

makingfriends.com is a great website and they will give you ideas that list all 4 activities with all the supplies you will need.

one of the easiest is Art to Wear

1.make necklaces or bracelets using pony beads, alphabet beads or fancy beads (your choice) on gimp, string or stretchy string

2. make a mask

3. face painting-have them do it to each other/variation temporary tatoos with either stick on tatoos or the markers that they make for skin (you can find those at ac moore)

4. paint t shirts with fabric paints, you can also do this with white shoe laces and bandanas and painters caps

5. decorate a visor (again acmoore sells foam visors) then you can glue jewels, foam shapes, fake flowers or just plain color with markers.

6. head bands, make them out of cloth or weaving loops

just pick 4 activities and you've got your badge (try it)

Thanks kidzmom3!

I'll check out the website!

I like the Art to Wear ideas - sounds like they would like it and not
too hard for me! Great ideas!

Thank you very much!

Another easy try-it is "Playing Around the World". You just neeed to play a bunch of games with the girls (From the list in the book). They are really easy, fun and a great way to blow off steam at the end of a long school day.

Just edited to say: Jan-Ken-Po the game from Japan is like Rock, Paper, Scissors; Another is Red Light, Green Light, etc. None of the games are difficult and they explain the rules in the Try-It book.

Thanks Anne34!

I haven't read the book yet (just got it last night) - can
you tell we are very new to all of this?

The Playing Around the World does sound easy and fun!

Thanks!
