Brown Derby

The food is good. The martinis are fantastic. Try the pomergranite. Kicked out the teens after dinner and my DH & I had martinis for dessert. FUN and RELAXING!

I wouldn't go back there again. The food was so-so. The grapefruit cake was awful! I had the venison sausage and duck breast, the sausage was good, but I've had better duck. The service was just plain horrible. There was barely anyone in the restaurant and yet we waited and waited and waited for service. No drink refills. The family next to us was very disappointed as well. They said the Cobb Salad was horrible.

If I had to pick the best restaurant in DHS, I'd pick 50's Prime Time Cafe, you can't beat the fried chicken!

And see, my experience was just the opposite. Had great attentive service (almost too much--LOL--and the restaurant was full), had a delicious steak and LOVED the grapefruit cake (except I was so full by then that I could only eat a bite or two and took it to finish later--and yes, it was still yummy!) I also had a great martini.

Personally, when I have had inattentive service--especially in a restaurant with those kind of prices--I march myself over to the check-in desk and ask for the manager.

we went for lunch last summer and it was very good. the grapefruit cake is a must have...like nothing I've had anywhere else.

So tell us--what do you order when you go? What the best alcoholic drink too?

I always like the grouper. And if they still have it on the dinner menu I liked the roasted chicken.

As for the drinks when I was there and remember this was 6 years ago they made their own sangria from scratch. It was soooooooooo yummy. And the creme brulee for dessert.

And you can never go wrong with the original Cobb Salad.

On our Oct visit, we ordered the Cobb Salad w/o blue cheese (none of us like blue cheese) for an appetizer to share & we all really liked it. My DH & I had the salmon & agreed it was the best entree of the trip. Next time, I'll ask them to hold the olives. I just wasn't crazy about the combo, but could easily pick around them. Our DS's girlfriend had the NY strip. She had a steak every night & said this one was the best. Sorry, I can't remember what our DS had. For comparison, we also ate at Flying Fish. My DH & I had the signature snapper, & DS's girlfriend had the NY strip again. We all thought our meal at HBD was much better. We were too full for dessert. :sad2: No worries, I won't make that mistake again. :p The only alcoholic beverage we had was a pumpkin martini. I ordered it out of curiousity. One sip & I was done. Time to pass it over to DH to take one for the team. :rotfl:

PS: I'll try to ask my DS what he had later. For some reason, I can't remember what he ate at HBD or FF. :confused3
