Sorry if this has been asked before, but I wasn't able to find it...
I know that Brown Derby is a 2 credit meal, but my questions are 1. Is it worth 2 credits? and 2. What is the difference in what you get on the Fantasmic Package and regular dining (on DDP) besides Fantasmic seats? Are apps included on either since it's a 2 credit restaurant?
Any help or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks. :goodvibes

Four of us adults dined at the BD earlier this month -- but not on the DDP. So I cannot speak from that perspective. Although I am aware it is a 2 pp credit.
We all enjoyed our meal. But we all agreed it is not a 2 credit pp meal. For 2 credits pp, I would definitely eat somewhere else.
I even suggest Tutto's in WS. You can't go wrong there and it is only 1 credit pp! :thumbsup2

Hi! We went about 2 weeks ago (May 1) on the DDP with Fantasmic. I dont think we would use 2 credits again. We did get apps and a dessert. Everything was just ok nothing great. When we walked into Fantasmic there were PLENTY of seats. We actually moved over because there were better seats available than the Fantasmic seating.

Hope this helps

According to other posts, if you book the Fantasmic dining package you can get an appetizer if you are on the basic plan. The appetizer is included with the package.

If you eat there without booking the Fantasmic package, the basic plan would not entitle you to appetizers.

Thanks so much for the replies. You all really helped in making up my mind. I think we'll not use 2 credits for BD, and either spread them out over another meal or choose a different signature meal. :goodvibes

Just returned, and here is my thread about the Brown Derby. We've eaten pretty much everywhere else and have been hesitating to try this restaurant, and we are sorry we wasted 2 credits here. We received the worst service of any restaurant over our 15 days of dining and the food wasn't good either:

Much better options for 2 credit dining, Tiger

I have seen some positive reviews of BD, but more that I have read are negative. We have a Fantasmic Dinner booked in September, and I think we are going to cancel it.

I do not want to use 2 credits on somewhere that is only serving food and providing service of a 1 credit location!

We ate here in February 2008 and really loved it! The food was delicious and our server was wonderful. We did the Fantasmic package and we were able to go in a seperate entrance 25 minutes before the show started and sat on the right, almost in the center of the arena. Great seats! We will be on the deluxe dining plan when we go back November and I made reservations for Hollywood Brown Derby again with the Fantasmic package. A lot of people have said that the food isn't worth 2 TS credits but we thought the food was really very good. Our appetizers were amazing, the steak I had was incredible and the chocolate flourless cake delicious! We paid OOP this past February and it was expensive! Sooo, we're doing the deluxe dining plan next time. We like TS meals and snacks so I don't feel like we're wasting food or money. Whether or not it's worth the 2 TS is very subjective. For us, we're not doing park hoppers so we're eating our dinners at the parks we visit that day. Hollywood Studios doesn't have a lot of dining options for TS and Mama Melroses gets such blah reviews, we decided to eat again at Hollywood Brown Derby with Fantasmic! :goodvibes

We dined there five years ago and always give places at least two chances, but we just haven't done it with Brown Derby for the price or having to use two table service credits. Our server was rude and "unavailable" and the food was not good at all. My DH, who is a huge dessert lover, had the grapefruit cake and said it was the worse thing he had ever tasted.

Well, I hate to read the bad reviews, but I am going to keep my BD ressie for September. I thought about going over to Yatch Club or Boardwalk since I don't have hoppers, but I'm not sure it will be worth the trouble. I need a nice relaxing dinner since we are all day park goers. It will also be really nice to have the Fantasmic! dinner package and not have to worry about getting there early. I also found quite a few good reviews on deb's site, sounds like they've changed the menu a bit -

I wish you luck! We honestly feel that 1 credit is too much for The Brown Derby.:sad1:

Speaking of Yacht Club, the Yachtsmen Steakhouse is absolutely superb - so worth 2 credits!

Happy eating, Tiger

I want to eat the cobb salad at the Brown Derby but I don't want to use up 2 credits!

Our Cobb Salad last week was missing several key ingredients. Brought it to the worst server on property's attention, and he just stared at us and walked away. We thought he was going to bring another one, but no, he just disappeared for another 20 mins like he had been doing the entire meal. Like I said, we don't feel it's worth 1 credit, let alone 2.

Tiger :(

After reading everyone's reviews and suggestions I'm still undecided and I need to make a decision fast (provided there are still ressies or cancellations avaialable!) as we are going mid June.

Because it is June is it better to get a Fantasmic package to get a seat for the 9pm show? Or do you think we can eat someplace else and have better luck getting our own seats with the 10:30 show?

We like to try the restaurants at least once so..........as someone has said this (and anything for that matter) is subjective and for the poster that said they give a restaurant 2 trys, I agree. I find it very interesting how the reviews seem to be evenly split. Usually you find a restaurant that gets a lot of good reviews and some cons or vise versa. But this is different (from my perusal of the Dining threads)! It seems BD can have really off days for both servers and cooks!

I don't think it's worth the 2 credits, if I really wanted to eat here again (and I don't). I would pay for it out of our pocket.
