I just started a new thread since I didn't see this one, sorry about that! Anyway, I LOVE this show. L-O-V-E it! Sally Field is the best as Nora! And I never liked Calista Flockhart until now. I'm a very liberal democrat and I even like Kitty
However, I HATED last night's episode. I just don't get the whole Sarah/Joe thing. Why in the world would Joe get the kids? Their whole divorce is due to the fact that he made out with his wife's younger sister. He was only the stay-at-home-dad because he couldn't get a job. Sarah always took care of the kids, emotionally and financially. Remember when Paige was sick and they found out she had diabetes? It was Sarah who was taking care of her before and after the revelation. When Paige was sick it was Sarah who was up with her all night, and it was Sarah giving her the insulin injections. And Sarah and Joe always had a loving relationship... I was actually a big fan of Joe until now. They were always very close so why would Joe all of a sudden run away with the kids?! I know it has to do with stability, but as I said, it was Sarah who we always saw taking care of the kids. Paige even said she wanted to stay with her mom and in the only home she's ever known. And the whole divorce was Joe's fault so he has no reason to hate Sarah so much to just steal their kids away. I don't believe that the children being with their father will allow them to be better off when it involves stealing them away from their mother and their home. That's not stability to me, especially when Sarah's never done anything wrong. She forgot to give Cooper his permission slip... mothers everywhere have gotten away with a LOT more than that! And does Joe really care about his family as much as he makes it seem? He's the one who kissed his wife's sister
And don't get me started on the Tommy storyline! He and Julia also had a loving relationship. They cared about each other so much and that fact was always reiterated. Then Julia left with the baby which I know killed Tommy, but as they left he told Julia that she was the love of his life. I was always under the impression that Julia was coming back and they were just trying to deal with everything that happened with the loss of their son. Of course Julia leaving isn't the best of situations, but Tommy was always a family man and him cheating on Julia with some random bimbo he's known for two weeks is SO out of character. It makes no sense...
I still absolutely love the show, but it seems as if the writers couldn't think of any good storylines so they're just being as melodramatic as possible. There's no real understandable reason why Joe would all of a sudden run away with the kids and why Tommy would cheat on "the love of his life." It just seems like drama for the sake of drama
