Brothers & Sisters Season 2 (tv show spoilers possible)

I jsut started watching this a few weeks ago after flipping through the channels and seeing a scene with Saul (and Nora I believe). I thought I was going to go crazy figuring out the timeline but I have a feeling that during the strike they repeated a couple of episodes from season 1.

I bawled my eyes our during the proposal at the end. the kiss was well done IMHO.
Have they shown a "gay" kiss before on the show?

YES, several

a few questions:
How did the "mistress" get involved with the winery?

She started it with Tommy

How is Saul related to the family? I gather he is either Nora's brother or BIL.

Nora's brother and CFO of Ojai

Did they write Jenna Elfman's character out of the show? This iswhat I've gathered about her storyline.I take it she was/is married to the brother at the winery. They had twins and one died. He had an affiar, she found out and left. However somewhere in this thread it sounds like maybe she had a breakdown or something (or am I confusing characters).
I really don't have all their names straight yet.

see blue and pp

The Jenna Elfman role was a guest appearance and was never a re-occuring role. She played I think it was the neighboring family of the Walkers and were over for "game night"

The twin story line is Tommy & his wife Julia (Sarah Jane Morris). She went into premature labor and 1 twin (William) didn't make it. They had to choose to take him off life support. Julia then went through severe depression and guilt and blamed Tommy leading them to a separation and she went home with her parents to Arizona for a spell. Both ended up having affairs - he with his office manager at the winery, her a 1 night stand with an ex back home (where her parents live).

I too was wondering how Holly came into her role at the winery. (I have forgotten already the logistics of it) DH and I were hoping now that it is out that Rebecca is not a Walker, that this might be used to oust Holly.

Holly was given a % in William Walkers will in the family business - O-Hai, Tommy wanted to extend the business into a winery but Sarah was against it at the time. Holly offered to partner up with Tommy and invest her money into the new winery. So Tommy & Holly co-run/own the winery.

Saul is Nora's brother. It has been played that he was on the line - some times portrayed as hetero, other times it was implied he may be gay. Now they have him coming out so it will be interesting where they go with his character. Apparently his drunk driving accident was an attempted suicide because he feels he can no longer "play" the role of a straight man but does not know how to be an older gay man.

There have been a few gay kisses involving Kevin and his past boyfriends.

BTW, does anyone know in what city the family is supposed to be living? There are many references to Pasadena and Ventura...but I would think if the business is located in Ojai, they would want to live there, rather than commute, except maybe for Nora, when the business was started many years ago, the commute wouldn't have been as difficult as it is today.

It was fun seeing Ken Olin and Patricia Wettig (husband and wife- for those that don't know) acting together again. I loved them in "Thirtysomething" years ago.

OK, I consider myself a bit of a TV/movie trivia person, and I had NO idea they were married. And married since '82, which means they were hitched the whole time I was watching 30 something! (of course, there was no imdb back then, LOL) How did I not know that?

Did you know actor MAtthew Rhys aka Kvin Walker actually has an accent and that is not his voice lol.. ok.. things like that freak me out..

In an interview on AfterElton.com Matthew says he has a dialect coach, and works hard to suppress his Welsh accent for the show :confused3

I had no idea until I saw him one of those psa commercials.

Thank you everyone for answering
A couple of other questions
Was the father ever a part of the show, or did the show start after his death?
Do we know how the father(william?) knew Holly.

I gathered from the last episode that the family's company Ojai has something to do with food. Any background or interesting info there?

So did Saul and the father start the business together?

That's one thing I did know. Seems like I read/saw it in an interview sometime toward the last season or 2 of Thirty Something

ETA....LOL I didn't even realize the show was in its second season until reading this thread. I don't know how I didn't catch this show earlier.

The show starts after the death of the father. He had an affair with Holly, and believed that Rebecca was his daughter.

The father (William) Appeared in the first episode, where he died suddenly of a heart attack by the pool.

The name of the company is "Ojai Foods", and it seems to be mostly a produce distributor, but may be branching in to some specialty items.

They imply that William started and ran the company with Saul handling the finances, and Nora as their secretary, a true family run business.

Then the business was successful and Nora had a houseful of kids.

After William died, it was found that William had taken funds from the company, and the employee retirement funds (basically embezzled them) and put them into a "secret investment". The password key to opening this on-line account was the first initial of each child, plus "R" for "Rebecca", this is how Rebecca was accepted as Williams child. The investment was a substantial holding in what would have been acres and acres of worthless desert land. But, the government had options to purchase the land as a huge, huge profit to William. I think it had something to do with the land being near a military base, or national security.

It turned out that the gov't exercised that option, and Ojai was saved from bankruptcy. This also gave Ojai great investment assets. That is the condensed version of Season 1.

Justin had been in the military and had a drug problem, went into rehab, and was going back into the military. He was injured and again became addicted to pain meds. That is the condensed version of Season 1.

That basically is where the storyline picks up on season 2. The first part of the season concentrated on relations between the characters, It also focused on Kitty and Rob during the Presidential primaries, which he lost.

Thanks for correcting me. I must have missed the first episode, because I don't remember that.

He has also been in a couple episodes showing flash back scenes from times when he was alive.

I can't believe that Tommy agreed with Holly have the final say if He and Sara don't agree.... what was he thinking. Especially when she now knows that Rebecca isn't a Walker I think she is out to take over everything.

Can they sue her for the money from the will since Rebecca isn't William's daughter? Then it would bring money back to Ojai... :confused3

The first episode makes William a likable husband/father.

Isn't it funny the kids are never on the show anymore... we used to see Paige and Cooper in almost every episode but they are never on anymore.

And they other funny thing about the Olin's is their son and daughter work on the show too! She played Michelle.... Justin's ex-girfriend and their son is an editior. I think that's neat for us thirty something fans!

What did you guys think?

I liked the end scene with Rebecca and Justin...

Kitty seemed at peace with the decision to adopt... have we figured out why she is having so much trouble getting pregnant since she go pregnant so easily before?

I hope Sara finds some dirt and gets Holly :thumbsup2

What else?

I said "yes!" when Rebecca and Justin kissed, looking forward to that story line next season.

I too am hoping that Sara is able to find something to use against Holly.

I liked it well enough. Justin and Rebecca are fun to watch

The whole "ryan" thing. A bit too contrived, IMO. But I still want to see how it plays out.

great episode. I loved how they forgot to get rings and everyone starts pulling theirs off to offer to use.

I'm really hoping to get caught up with repeats before the new season.

Yep, I hope Sara finds dirt on Holly.

So there might just be a brother out there.

A couple of questions:
What if any explanation was given in the will to leave $$ to Holly?
I take it Rebbecca was not mentioned in the will.

Does anyone know if it is going to be on next year? I haven't heard anything but since it said Season finale and not series finale... I am assuming it is back on.
