Broken toe at Disney tips?

Hi everyone! I probably sound ridiculous for asking, but has anyone ever broken one of their toes before a Disney trip? I'm going in about a week and I broke my pinky toe last night. I know it's minor but it's pretty painful to walk :rotfl: Doctors said it could take a couple of months to heal, but I'm hoping I could walk around the parks for my trip. I can't even wear closed toed shoes right now. Anyone have any tips? Maybe comfy open toed shoe suggestions? I'm not a flip flop type of girl.
If anyone's broken a toe before, how long before the pain went away?

Never broken a toe before but my grandma always told me to wear tight shoes to help it heal. However tight shoes in Disney? I wouldn't think that'd help at all. Maybe wrap it up and wear something along the lines of Tevas or a Keen kind of sandal? Have fun!

What about a pair of Skeechers Go Walks.

You might want to also carry some ziplock bags with you and ask for a cup of ice in the parks. That way you can ice your toe if it hurts too bad

Wonder how these would feel

I have a pair of Earth Spirit sandals I got a walmart and they are comfy. The have a Velcro strap across the toe area and the ankle. They are very very comfy I wear them at Disney!

I broke my toe once the day I was starting my new job. OMG that first week was a killer. I would say it took 10- 14 days for me to feel better. So hopefully you will be in good shape for your trip

What about Chaco's? They are a bit on the pricey side but VERY comfortable. They are actually made for hiking, so I am sure they will hold up perfectly for Disney. Plus, they last a long time. I wear mine all the time.

Thanks guys! I'll look into those suggestions. :goodvibes

I had to deal with a painful big toe for several months last year. I wore open-toed sandals, and wrapped gauze around the toe in case it was bumped.
When I had to wear something else, it was a pair of Crocs (yes, I know they're ugly) a size too big with gauze around the toe.

I've broken the same pinky toe twice. The first time it took a couple of weeks before it started to feel better. The second time, it healed much faster.

Any type of open toe shoe that would give you some support at the toe area would work well. Please be careful if you get crocs because they can be very slippery on wet pavement. I fell last year while wearing my crocs in the rain.

I have a friend that is a lunatic runner and he broke his toe and was disappointed that he would miss an upcoming marathon. He was able to continue training and run in the marathon when he tried a shoe called a Hoka One One. It is an expensive shoe that extreme runners really like. My friend could not believe how comfortable they were with a broken toe. Best of Luck!

i went to WDW with a broken toe a few years ago. taping the toe up every day helped, as well as open sandals and sneakers with wide toe boxes.

but, the most important piece of advice:
watch out for strollers!!
after my poor toe was run over by strollers a number of times, we stayed in the least crowded areas, & waited until large crowds passed us (even if it took longer to get anywhere/do anything).
DH and my kids encircled me, on the lookout for strollers being pushed by the kids that didn't want to stay in them. they managed to block most run-overs (thank goodness - it really hurt!)
