Broadway

-Oklahoma
-The Music Man
-Beauty and the Beast
-Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
-Sweet Charity
-Jersey Boys
-Hairspray
-Chicago
-A Chorus Line

I think there are one or two more but I can't remember.

What ones are my favorites?
HAIRSPRAY &&&& JERSEY BOYS = LOVE

Which ones do I want to see?
-RENT = LOVE.... not really the type of play you go see with your parents though, I'll have to hold out on that one.
-The Little Mermaid
-Hairspray (again)
-Jersey Boys (again)

Actually, Rent isn't that bad, unless your parents are ultra-ultra-ultra conservative. There's only a few short parts that might get awkward. Spring Awakening, on the other hand...

im seeing young frankenstein this month ill tell u how it is. o and btw for spring awakining alot of people loove it but when my parents went they walked out on it before intermission. yeahh they are brats they have see like 100 plays

I dont know if Spring Awakening would really "speak" to their generation like it speaks to ours. Its not the classic broadway show, and would deffinatly offend some people.

But wether its a good or bad reaction...Spring Awakening gets just that, a reaction. I think thats one of the reasons it won Best Musical, not because everyone loves it, but because everyone is talking about it.

Its not that they would care, it would just be awkward from what I've heard. The movie is not bad, but I've heard they do some "stuff" on the stage. Lol

i haven't really seen any on brodway..
i see more broadway style shows off of broadway i guess...
And i kindaa do some in the local collage here...

I have a question here?? I love musicals and RENT is deffinatly one of my favorites and I haven't seen it yet but i would like to sometime and i just wanted to ask the people who have seen it on broadway what some of the differences between the broadway version and the movie version are.

There are a lot of differences, actually. The major ones being that there are some songs that weren't even in the movie. (The scene in the movie of Roger and Mimi talking for a split second right before 'Over the Moon' is a major part of the stage version) Another major one is in the movie, Joanne and Maureen have their commitment union or whatever they call it, and when Joanne sees Maureen flirting w/ the bartender, it's kind of the last straw, so they break up, which then goes into Take Me or Leave Me. It's totally different on stage. The commitment ceremony never happens, their reason for breaking up is because Joanne sees Maureen kissing another girl during La Vie Boheme, (Joanne is gone during LVB because she's still at the lot packing up, but she comes to the Life Cafe for a little bit to ask Maureen something) so Joanne tells Maureen she has to move out. They break up and get back together over the course of a few months, (so Mark tells us) and one day while they're rehearsing for another protest, Maureen freaks out at Joanne and THEN they start singing Take Me or Leave Me. Seasons of Love takes place at the beginning of Act II, not Act I, and the order of a few other songs got flipped around for the movie. There are a lot of 'tune ups' and 'voicemails' that are sung during the stage show that were mostly spoken in the movie. In the movie, Out Tonight takes place at the Cat Scratch Club, but in the stage version it takes place at Mimi's apartment. Basically, there's much more spoken dialogue in the movie than there is in the stage version. On stage, basically everything is sung. There's other things too, like small lyrical changes and things like that.

Sounds interesting. I'd love to go see it on Broadway but who knows when that'll happen. I guess for now I'll just stick to my CD and my movie. Thanks a lot though.

None on Broadway as of yet (I'm hoping we will go there soon because I've always wanted to go there and mum said we might go to America next year) but here are the ones I've seen in Australia
-Les Mis (first one I ever saw, I was 9 and it got me hooked)
-Shout, the Legend of the Wild One (It's about Australia's first rock and roll singer Johnny Okeefe)
-Fame the musical
-Mama Mia
-Saturday Night Fever
-Fiddler on the Roof (With Topol, best ever!)
-The Sound Of Music
-Singin in the Rain
-Dirty Dancing, the classic story on stage (not exactly a musical...but it was good)

and I'm seeing Rent this week

Also i am kicking myself about not getting to see The Boy From Oz with Hugh Jackman! also not being allowed to fly to Melbourne to see the closing night of the Lion King :( and mum and dad not taking me to see Beauty and the Beast (once again with Hugh Jackman as Gaston) because I was too little (yes I was probably about six but still I loved (and still do) Beauty and the Beast

are the stagehands on strike? i havent heard anything on the news. if they did go on strike it looks like i wont be seein young frankenstein next sunday

Yeah, starting today, unfortunately. There are eight shows that aren't participating, though, including Young Frankestein.

Rent is closed though, which is really bad because their grosses are low enough, they don't need this at all. :sad2:

Though the last time this happened it only lasted a few days, so let's hope it's over asap.

My friend who got me hooked on "Wicked" just got me hooked on "Spring Awakening" - he's singing 'Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind' in the Broadway Revue. I guess it's a good thing that my mom, sister, and I are taking yearly trips to New York now. Mom wouldn't mind to see Spring Awakening, but Dad would. I'm thinking about buying my own ticket to see Spring Awakening, and Mom or my sister would come with me.

My band director...what was he thinking, getting me hooked on Broadway with Les Miz?

thanks SplshMtnLvr28 i was searching all over the internert and couldnt find anything. i must retarted today. o well thnx im just happy that i get to see young frankenstein. i hope the stage hands get what they want
