OPEN CASTING CALL IN LOS ANGELES FOR HAIRSPRAY
THE HUGE NEW HIT MUSICAL ON BROADWAY!

Seeking for the First National Tour: males and females of all ethnicities to play ages 16-25, with AWESOME POP SINGING voices. Also seeking:


a heavyset, vibrant Caucasian teen heroine with an excellent pop singing voice for the lead role TRACY (played by Ricki Lake in the movie)
a spunky African-American female, age 11-14, with a great singing voice
a funny, heavyset Caucasian male character actor, age 40s - 50s, with singing ability, to play a woman (played by Divine in the movie)
a powerful, heavyset African-American female, age 40s - 50s, with a soulful gospel/pop singing voice
Non-Equity and Equity, no previous theatrical experience necessary.

Date: Wednesday, January 8th
Time: 9AM-5PM
Sign-in: Sign-in starts at 8:30AM
Where: The Madilyn Clark Studios
10852 Burbank Blvd
two blocks east of Vineland
Preparation: Prepare 16 bars of 1960’s style pop song to sing a cappella. Also bring sheet music, a picture, and a resume (snapshots are fine).

open calls are usually a sham. they already know who they have in mind for the show and an open call just generates publicity for the show.
