Broadway Club

Ooh! Yay Michelle! I love your signatures. They're pretty. =D

I love [TOS]!
It's about two guys writing a musical, about two guys writing a musical, about two guys writing a musical. xD :p

Basically it's a musical about writing a musical.
Some of the songs are really random but it's great.

Like how The Producers is a musical about two men putting on a musical?

I've never seen that but from reading the description. Basically, I guess.

"[title of show] is a musical with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and a book by Hunter Bell. The musical documents its own creation by two Broadway fans, who want to enter the New York Musical Theatre Festival and struggle to complete the show in three and a half weeks, and their two actress friends. The actors are also the writers and characters of the musical."

Hmm that sounds interesting.

My grandpa said he'll get me tickets to see something in NYC next year. I'm thinking Avenue Q (if it's still running). Or, Mamma Mia! if I don't get to see it when it tours here.

[TOS] is AMAZING. It kind of has the same cult following SPring Awakening had back in the day. I think it will be next years Tony winer for Best Musical. The idea could have been cliche...but Hunter and Jeff just made it so origional. ANY actors can relate to the songs....basically its amazing.

Though [tos] does have a cult following, it's nowhere near as large as Spring Awakening's. It's been on Broadway for less than a month, and has never gotten over 60% for its weekly gross (meaning the theatre's only been selling half of its seats), which is REALLY bad for just opening. I think part of the problem is the location. The Lyceum is off the beaten path, and tourists wandering around looking for a show to go to aren't going to find it very easily. Also, the show is basically an insider show. The average tourist doesn't know who Mary Stout is, and probably gets NONE of the references in Monkeys and Playbills. Not that it hinders one's viewing of [tos], because it's hilarious and heartfelt whether you get the references or not. But the tourists want to see shows they've seen on Good Morning America and that they can namedrop to the folks back home. They want flashy sets and big company numbers, not four chairs and a keyboard.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE title of show (listening to it right now, actually) and have been following it and rooting for it since before it was at the Vineyard. The cast is totes awesome, but with the way ticket sales have been going, there's NO WAY it's going to make it till the Tony's. Even though it's probably the most deserving show for Best Musical out there.

I <3 Wicked but i've never seen it. (but i have seen lots of clips on youtube) From what i've seen rent is awsome too and i fell in love with the hairspray movie for months a little awhile ago.

Just jumping in to this thread to see if any of you know when or if any of the awesome Disney productions in NY are on their way here! I am dying for them all!!!

Ooh.
I showed it to my mom and it's coming to a theatre in my town! She bought tickets online! :D They're $20 per ticket though.

Wicked...gahhhh...love at first note.

One month (and a few days) til Legally Blonde!

=O
I'm trying to make my parents see RENT..well the movie version anyway. xD

Is the Broadway Cast like..all non-movie people? Or does it have Adam and Anthony? I don't think it does. *sigh*

Actually Tracie Thoms (Joanne in the movie) is the current Joanne. The current (final) cast is very talented, and many of them have been with the show forever. Justin Johnston (Angel) is hilarious, and I can't wait to see him in the screening. I also heard something about the OBC making a special appearance? (which means Adam and Anthony :P ...and Jesse... yum :teeth:)

I just saw wicked this past saturday!(for the first time) it was so awesome! i even got autographs outside the stage door from a few main characters.(Elphie-Kerry Ellis, Madame Morrrible, the Wizard and some guy in the ensamble)
