can anyone tell me if they have flown premium with brittania and if yes there thoughts, normally i fly virgin but couldnt get a flight the day i wanted so we chose brittania and paid to upgrade, hope someone can help :grouphug: :umbrella:

We did this several years ago and, although things may have changed a bit since then, we've booked to upgrade again for our trip this July, so we can't have thought it was too bad, can we?

I have to say the 'enhancements' aren't that brilliant but, with DH at 6'3", it makes the flight more comfortable for him.

He has been so squashed on other flights (including economy with Virgin and BA, not just the charters) that it's worth it for us all to upgrade even though DDs and I are all around 5'4" and not really in need of a lot of legroom! However, we wouldn't be prepared to pay x 4 passengers for the schedule airline premium upgrades.

When we last travelled Britannia Premium, I remember the seats being a bit bigger than economy (but not much) with some extra legroom (again, not much). The configuration in that part of the cabin was 2-3-2 (or maybe 2-4-2) instead of 3-4-3 in the rest of the plane, I think. The drinks throughout the flight were free but the upgraded meal service was a complete waste for us as DD1 was suffering from her usual travel sickness, so didn't eat, and DD1 and I are vegetarian and there is no upgraded vegetarian option! In fact, I seem to remember they messed it up completely and we weren't even down for veggie meals at all! (* see edit below) DH enjoyed his though  The seat back TVs were nicer than having to look over the seats in front to see the one in the aisle.

To be honest, I don't get on plane to enjoy a slap-up meal or first rate entertainment ;) As long as we arrive safely and manage to have some degree of comfort for a few hours, we're fairly happy. I know others like to feel the flight is as special as the rest of the trip, but we see it as a necessary means to getting to our destination.

(* Just looked back at my trip report from then and remembered there was also no child's meal available in Premium! I'm hoping they've got their catering arrangements sorted out by now!)

thanks hilary thats great,i managed to prebook the seat that are immediatley behind the cabin so we wont have anyone in front,as i hate it when someone fully reclines in front of you,was you checked in as priority and did you embark and disembark first, also do you have a thread for your trip report, thanks again

mark... :cool1: :hourglass

I think check-in was as normal, but we were the first on / off the plane and had luggage out amongst the first items.

We weren't able to choose particular seats, and were even told we may not be able to all sit together (not a problem for us, but it would be preferable) - who did you speak to to do this?

I'll have a look to see if I can identify the relevant trip report, but I think it might have been before 'The DIS Crash' a few years ago when everything was lost into cyber space! I'll post back later when I've checked it out :)

thanks hilary for your help,it would be great if you can locate your trip report, did you find sanford as an airport to be less hassle free as i find international to be rather long winded

thanks again

Sanford is generally hassle free and the last time we went which was just before Christmas we were first off the plane, first through immigration, baggage came off first and first into Alamo. On the road 25 minutes after touching down. In contrast to the last time we went to MCO when it took us about 2 hours to get out of the airport.
We travelled with First Choice in their premier cabin.

Like terry, we find Sanford a breeze on arrival. My only hesitation is the prospect of being delayed on the homeward flight as Sanford has nowhere near as extensive facilities as MCO. However, I've heard that Sanford has grown a lot in recent years, so I'm hoping it will be better.

I've found the trip report and posted it on the TR board, along with others I'd posted previously but had been wiped off years ago.

There's hardly anything about the Britannia flights in the TR but, if you're interested, it's the October 1999 trip which was our Britannia upgrade trip!

thanks hilary will look at those tonight ,thanks again for your help,i think like you i may do the guest house at sanford keep hearing good things about it :umbrella: :hourglass
