Someone told me that Britax marathons do not fit in airplane seats. Does anyone know if this is true? We are flying in June and that is the seat I was going to take because my 3yo can use it and my 1yo lap baby can use it if there is an open seat and the 3 yo can sit in the plane seat. I planned on taking 2 boosters along for our rental car.

We have used the Marathon on an airplane in the past. DD is now 7 but we used it from age 2-4 with no problems.

I have used both a Marathon and a Decathalon on a plane with no problems. :thumbsup2

We have also used the Marathon many times on an airplane - no problems at all. :)

We've used our Marathon on the plane as well. It's a little bulky and kind of difficult to lug to your seat and install (along with 2 kids, a stroller, and all the other assorted carry-on items :) ), but we managed.

I fly sometimes w/o DH, I could have never of lugged DD's Marathon though the airport. Plus when you land, you need to re-install it... that is the last thing I want to do in an airport parking lot after a long flight. We ended up getting an inexpensive car seat (that got good safety reviews) as a travel car seat. It was not as quilted as the Marathon, but DD never complained!

Plus it was nice having a spare seat laying around. DD went through a car sick phase and we would just put it in the car while the Marathon was getting cleaned up.

We used ours the one time we used a carseat on the plane. The seat fit fine but it was bulky and a pain to install on the cramped airplane. Also be aware that the seat will not give the 3 year old much room and will put them at the perfect height to kick the seat in front of them (due to the high base). If you definitely want your 3 year old in a carseat, you may want to consider purchasing a cheaper seat like the scenera that will be lighter to lug through the airport and sit lower in the seat.

After that flight we just checked our seat and had him use a lap belt instead and we were much better off.

We used our old Cosco on our only trip with our 1 1/2yr old, so I can't tell you if a Marathon would fit. We didn't take ours because it is super heavy and bulky.:headache: Just getting it in and out of our car sometimes is a chore, and I couldn't imagine lugging that thing through an airport, hotel, etc.:sad2:
