Hi,

We are contemplating buying some type of Brita system for our villa. So...a question for those of you that use Brita....
Do you use the pitcher type? Store it In your OL? Or did you buy the kind that hooks to the faucet since its smaller?
I assume you have to change the filter each visit?
Does it really help with the taste of Florida water?
Would love to hear what others do...
Tia.....

Yes, we keep a Britta pitcher and two Britta water bottles I our OL. There's typically several months between visits, so we put new filters in on each visit.

We have a Brita pitcher that joins us on our Florida trips and it makes all the difference. I hate normal Florida water but it is just fine with the Brita

We keep a Brita Ultramax with the spigot water dispenser in our storage unit. We drink a lot of water and also use it our KCup coffee maker, for Crystal Light packs, etc. When we have a 1 or 2 BD, we like to keep the unit in the fridge for nice fresh cold drinking water. When it's just DH and me in a studio, we leave the Brita container out as it obviously doesn't fit in the studio fridges. We're not fans of Florida water and the Brita makes it taste just like our well water at home.

We have a Brita pitcher with extra filters in our OL. Like Missy, we change the filter every time so we don't get mold. It even fits in the studio refrigerators. I like the idea of the Brita water bottles --- may have to run out to Walmart tomorrow!

We too have the Brita pitcher in our OL and change the filter every time we visit. We brought along a Brita squeeze bottle on our last visit and greatly enjoyed that as well. We had purchased a 20 oz bottle of coke & another one of diet coke at the airport and "saved" the bottles for WDW use. We used the small packets of Crystal Light at the parks -- dump one in the bottle, squeeze in the filtered water from the Brita, and shake -- voila. In this way we had our choice of flavored or unflavored. And, yes! It makes the water taste much better!

We keep a pitcher and extra filters in our OL. We toss the filter after every trip. The only time I have saved a filter from one trip to the next was when we were going to be back in less than a month, and I kept it sealed in a zip-lock bag.

I don't like the taste or smell of the water in some of the villas and the Brita makes a big difference to me.

We have our pitcher in our Owner's Locker too, along with our Keurig. One of the first things my husband does, while I unpack, is set up the Brita. We go through a lot of water while we are down there. As others have said, YES, it helps with the flavor of the water. I find the water at the hotels better now then in 1988, so I assume Disney does some type of filtering.

I also meant to add that we also keep two nice sized ice trays in the OL to make our own ice cubes. Two trays that make nice sized cubes keep the two of us in ice just fine. We stay at OKW a lot, and it is not always convenient to get to an ice machine.

We had the Brita filter that attached to the faucet, but then DVC changed the faucets in the kitchens, and ours no longer fits. Time to go to the pitcher, I guess.

We keep a Britta Filter in our OL, and yes, we do replace the filter every time. I forgot I'd already stocked up on them the year before, and brought a second multi-pack from BJ's for our last trip. So it will be quite a while before we run out of them!

We're usually in a studio, and I take the shelf out of the refrigerator. That allows us to keep both the Britta pitcher and a two-quart pitcher of Crystal Lite in the bottom of the fridge. We'll usually buy a few individual bottles of water on the first day, then re-use those during the trip, refilling them from the pitcher. They fit nicely on the door. The coffee maker and Crystal Lite containers also get filled from the Brita.

The Brita makes all the difference in the world. I can tolerate the Orlando water, especially if it's nice and cold, but it's still worth the money to filter it with the Brita.

We used to have a second pitcher at home, and I'd take the used filter pack home with me in my luggage using a ziplock bag. We've since replaced that with a through-the-door filtered water dispenser, so I just throw them away, now at the end of the trip.

Using one filter for a few days and throwing it away is still cheaper and easier than lugging a case of water and/or paying Disney for bottled water. Paying Disney's $2.50 per bottle cost for water drives me crazy and I will only do it if I am just parched and about to fall over from dehydration.

Oh amen! and Amen number 2. So on the same thought plain as you.

Not to hijack OP's thread, but does anyone know if pur filters fit on dvc faucets? Since someone said brita ones don't fit.

I'm guessing no because I originally had a Brita filter on my kitchen sink and later switched to PUR when the Brita started leaking. They both used same threads. Didn't need to switch anything around or use any adapters.

Darn, oh well. Thanks. I wonder why DVC sinks don't use standard faucet heads.

We use a Brita faucet filter and, at least at AKV, it works fine on one of the bathroom faucets. A little awkward not having it attached to the kitchen faucet, but definitle doable.

So I went out and bought the faucet type...now I'm afraid it won't fit! Does anyone have experience with using the faucet type at VWL or BWV??? Help!
