Bringing Unopened Jiff to go PB in carry-on

Can I bring the individual Jiff peanut butter packages in my carryon? I bring them into the park for my son. I fully understand the allergy issue. I would not open them on the plane.

Those are really great idea. I don't know if I would try bringing them in the carry-on, in case they get taken away. I think they'd be safer in the checked luggage.

Although, I brought really small containers of play-doh and didn't have a problem. But I also didn't care if they got taken away.

The little cups of peanut butter are small enough that they can go in somebody's quart-sized ziploc bag of 3.3oz or smaller creams/liquids/gels in their carryon.

That all depends on how many "cups" and what you already have. The simplest way is probably checked luggage - unless it will show up on an xray looking like explosive (fudge does).

I actually have these and pulled them out of the pantry to check...
The outer cardboard packaging indicates 6 single cups of 2.25 oz each. Based on that, they should be able to be put in your quart zip lock bag. HOWEVER, the individual cups do NOT list the weight on individual labels i.e. they don't say on the cup itself that's it's 2.25 oz which might get them tossed at security (the whole 6 pack and packaging don't fit in a quart bag I"m afraid.). The safest solution is to put them in your checked bag, if you can't you're taking a chance of them not getting thru. Probably a YMMV situation......

If you don't need them on the plane why not just put them in your checked baggage? If you'll need one or two for the parks on arrival day you could put those in your zip lock bag if you have room

Our last trip it was no problem - I had 1 of them and 2 slices of bread in a quart size ziploc.
Of course it all depends on the TSA agent you get, their mood, how many people are in line behind you, the day of the week, the phase of the moon, the alignment of the planets...

My DS always brings on 2 smuckers PBJ sandwiches on the plane to eat. He picks them up at the resort before we head off to the airport MCO. We always just put them in the carry-on. We have flown 3 times this year and had no problem going thru security.

Just an FYI, liquids/gels on a sandwich are fine, ie. you can have mayo, mustard, etc on a sandwich. If it isn't on the sandwich though, you may have an issue. I know I've read the example "mayo on a sandwich is fine; packet of mayo to put on the sandwich isn't fine" a couple of times on this board.

PB and or PBJ sandwiches are fine - as are all other types of sandwiches. Peanut butter alone falls into the liquid/gel category and is allowed in quantities 3.4oz or less and only as much as can fit into a one quart zip lock bag - one bag per person.

You can also bring a bagel with cream cheese but cream cheese itself also falls into the 3-1-1 category. Same with mayo, mustard etc......

OP - I would bring either a pre-made sandwich or just 1 or 2 of the jiff singles in your 3-1-1 bag. However since they are not clearly marked with the oz you may have to discard them at the security checkpoint.

You can pack a full jar of jiff or as many singles as you like in your checked bags.
