Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

It's great to hear that others are getting all packed for Panama! I'm almost done, just working on final swimsuit selections! I buy suits like most women buy shoes....obsesively! I am bringing 14 swimsuits....HA! I spend most of my days on the Magic near the pool, so I'll use them all for certain.
It's tough to pack for so many days at sea. I wonder what the temps will be like after sunset....anyone know?

Hey Pam, tell Allan that if he brings a TP game I'll play him. Just not one of the strange ones like Sports or some such. I can do him in at the original game in about 10 minutes. Played once with the family and ran the whole board in one turn. They won't play that version with me anymore. :cool1: I have more trouble with the newer ones.

We are packed as of yesterday, except for the few items that will wrinkle. I finished my pirate costume yesterday afternoon. We have had a water problem at the center, was a lovely shade of brown. Unfortunately a lot of the baby things are white. So for two days I have been collecting the laundry and bringing it home.

Leave a week from today. Disneyland here we come.

Tracy,
You never actually told me how many days were left.

I didn't want to be so obvious! I figured you could guess it is SEVEN :rotfl2:

Was I right? Are you glad it's not two? :earboy2:

My friend and I once played Trivial pursuit with her grandparents. Took hours. They had all their pieces, and just could not get in the center for anything in the world. We finally got our pieces and made it to the center. They were so mad because the winning guestion was "Who wrote the Diary of Ann Frank". They refuse to play that game with us ever again.

We have several versions of TP at the house. The Disney ones are HARD!
Plus you can't play the Star Wars version with my nephew. AFTER - he answers every question correctly - he then quotes the entire scene it was in :bounce:

It's SIX days for me!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Packing the toiletries today. Two weeks is a long time to make sure you have all the comforts of home (just in case of tummy aches, headaches, allergies, etc. etc. etc.)

Next week will be the shorts, t-shirt, etc. We gotta wear something until then! :rotfl2:

Everytime I turn around I am adding something to the suitcase! :rolleyes1

Renee - your flying out on WEDS -- what time ?

Watching the hurricane path -- should hit the Carolina's sometime Tuesday night -- then depending on the track maybe up the coast. Our Wedns flight is at 7:00 AM so we should be okay.

Shesh ... I swear that the hurricanes are aiming for me :)

(Sailed on the Hurrican Frances cruise - 9/7/04)

I mailed the diapers, pullups and swim diapers too. I also mailed the Tide Tablets. I just checked the Fed Ex website and they've been delivered. Now just to get them to the ship for Saturday.

Renee - where did you find Tide Tablets? I love them for travelling - but have been looking for them for over a year now - no luck.

Thanks Tracy for the internet info - I'll let DH know.

Oh - one other thing - does anyone remember how much the bottled water is on the ship? Not sure if I'm going to do a grocery shop in DL now or not.
I was all excited - going to order online and then have groceries delivered to the hotel , but then found out they don't accept "foreign" credit cards. :confused3

Being so far south, I imagine the evenings will be quite warm, although with the ship moving along at however fast they go, it could feel cooler in the breeze. I have NEVER needed anything other than a t shirt and shorts at night on any Bahamian cruise, no matter what time of year I was there. Alaska was a bit different, LOL! I was obsessed by swinmsuits too, untill I moved from the desert to the colder climes. I believe I had at least 20 suits in use for a few years. Now I am down to about 10, nut I am only bringing 3 with me. And of those I will only wear 2 on the ship, the other is for the water parks, in case I decide to go. I will be right with you near the pool a lot.

I just posted this question on the DCL Forum and received this answer from someone just off the Magic.
"Just got off the Magic...it was $29 for a case of 24 Evian and I believe they were 12 ounce bottles."

We can't decide whether to use one of our checked bags just for a case of water. We are driving to the port so don't have to lug it on planes like we did in Jan, but not sure I want to give up a whole bag for water when packing for two weeks. Decisions, decisions! :confused3

We were planning to bring a few cases of water, having staples deliver it to the hotel Fri or picking it up on the way down. Last cruise I almost dehidrated, not chancing that again.

Also, DH wants to know if anyone knows if cell phones will work, someone told him there is a cell tower on the boat, I find that hard to believe.

Today was a busy posting day, I love it!

Thanks Hgomes!
Well I don't know - just checked the Vons website - they have 16.9 fl oz bottles of Aquafina- case of 24 for $5.99. That was where I was going to go -the store is down Chapman I think close to the hotel. I'll think about it. Evian is spring water right? (a long time since I've bought it). I don't really like the taste of most spring water.
Maybe I'll just drink the water at the deck 9 beverage station!
