Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

I finally have sent out all the PMs for the list of Kid cruisers. If you did not get one and have a child to be included please PM me their first name, Age, and Sex.

I am planning on listing by Sex and Age. I will list first names only plus a contact name (the user name associated with it). I have decided against including room numbers, however with this list and the room number list you should be able to find someones room number by looking up the user name.

Example

6 Year old Girls
Lindsay (dletz)

Thanks Deb. I think that I am going to keep 2000 so I can have the larger porthole also. Everyone will be able to recognize you and me due to our red eyes from lack of sleep! :rotfl2: Actually, one person pmed me that has had the room and she didn't have any complaints. Another one said it was noisy. Who do you believe?

I WANT MY DOCS!!

Sandy:
Maybe pack some ear plugs just in case!
We were in San Francisco last March and stayed at a very nice little hotel on Fisherman's Warf. However the first night realized at midnight when our neighbour turned on his TV that the walls were paper thin.
We could hear everything!!Even when he turned over. Luckily we didn't hear other things LOL ;)
Anyway finally in total desperation I pulled out the ear plugs I had packed for DS swimming (he gets swimmer's ear often). Worked great!
I'm going to make sure we always have some now.
Diane

Diane, my dd is encouraging me to bring ear plugs too. One time on the Magic I could hear a man snoring. It was horrible. I left the bed and slept on the couch. DH slept through it every night. Bad thing is that the rooms weren't even connecting rooms.

The LAST day to sign up for the cliff diving tour is July 29th. If you don't know where to find the form to download for email or fax to the TA in Mexico - please email me or look in the newsletter.

People are signing up for Option A: Multimedia Show & 10:30 diving show or Option B: 9:30 diving show.

Letting me know you want to go on the excursion does not reserve a space for you.

Not sure if this was discussed before, if i has I am sorry but I have must have missed it.....does seeing the cliff divers at night provide as good a view of them as watching during the day...someone asked me how do you see the divers well if it is at night....I had never thought of it....so I am asking you guys.... Do daytime views get a better overall view of everything than night time views???

If I can remember correctly, my nieces had cabins all the way forward on Deck 2 and found that their porthole was much deeper than our mid-ship porthole, almost to the point that you could sit in it.....that would be cool...I hope I am remebering correctly!!! Something to do with the curve of the bow.

MJ

At night - they dive with torches -- everything I've read says you see them clearly. :cool1:

Wow that would be an added bonus. I would love to sit there and read my book. Now the question...is my bottom small enough to fit in that area ;)

George - does this mean you've deserted us and moved out of 7119 - can you advise the new number if you have moved?

Allan

Yes. I did not like the fact it was next to the area where the room carts are kept. On our past three cruises we stayed in 6624 on the Magic and a little further aft in a Navigator Verandah on the Wonder. I saw 6641 open and changed to that room.

jiminycfan
It was the crew area that had me concerned. Noise from there that close. Hope I may upgrade at port (only 3 cat 9 open)

That would really be cool. I read somewhere that the few rooms far forward are a tad bigger. Maybe that is where the extra space is.

Could anyone help me? What would you like to see in the DCL Navigator and what would you like to see changed? Is there anything that might help out us cruisers that should be included in the Navigator? Thanks for any suggestions and/or comments.

Okay guys...have you noticed the May repo thread is always near the top of the board...and then we straggle along towards the end or middle ? Too humiliating...was looking for a certain post in our original thread...talk about sifting through a needle in a haystack !!! Am progressing in the getting ready process...have received one of my four clothing orders, and booked an Acapulco excursion today...also bought the DCL Passporter...three weeks from Saturday, I can't believe we're at this point. I had my hair appt., so am good to go for the cruise. Right now I am so tired and stressed can only think of sitting and watching the water. My goal for the next 3.5 weeks is to read the Panama Canal book so I know what we're seeing...who else has read this ? I also have to buy wine for the DU party...on our last cruise we just skipped it because I was too tired to stop at a winery...I will not let that happen this time.
Thanks,
Leslie

We will be leaving 3 weeks from tomorrow. I can't believe it is getting that close. I have started laying out things, but can't really pack any clothes because we will need to wear most of the items over the next three weeks. DH bought disneyland tickets. We are planning on visiting there on Friday before the cruise.

Are most of you planning on dressing up on Pirate Nite?????

DD Joy and I laying out our formal and evening wear today. Same as you about most of the rest of our clothes - we need them! Allan just chucks everything in leftover space the night before our departure! He never worries about leaving things behind - he just says that if something is forgotten he can always buy another.

Allan is planning on dressing up on Pirate Night. Not sure about Joy and I although she does have the most beautiful, suitable skirt and top.

Pam

I agree about needing the clothes ~ heck, I even need the suitcase! After I get back from St. Louis next weekend, I'll dump everything out, throw it in the wash, then pack it back in the suitcase. We're leaving 2 weeks from Saturday ... SO CLOSE NOW!!!!!

Ok come on now guys. Everyone here is so creative. Can you help me with any suggestions for the DCL navigator? Anything you want changed? Anything you might want added?

I am starting to stress now. I am putting things away to be packed. I am packing a box for shipping too. Still trying to decide whether or not to ship the wine. Worried I will forget passports. Pedicure, manicure, hair. Just not enough time in the day to worry about everything. Calgon take me away!

I have been placing clothing items at the end of my closet so I can try and use them as little as possible. But when packing for 14 day cruise and then 2 days in DL before the cruise and 2 days in WDW after the cruise it is taking everything I have. I really don't want to have to do laundry on the ship, but time will tell. I can't imagine the amount of luggage those with kids are going to need. For infants that is a lot of diapers to pack!!!

DH just found out he has to go to Seattle the week of 8/8. Will fly home (Florida) on Friday 8/15 and then we leave on 8/18 to fly out to California. I think he will be tired of flying after all that.

Getting really anxious about this cruise.

Everything that the people posted on the thread are already on the Navigator, just hard to find unless you read every word. Maybe just making the stuff we want to know about (food/drinks) more visible?

Don't ship the wine to the port. If they are able to detect either the wine or liquid, etc., I'm guessing they would return it. They said they would return anything with food it in.

Tracy

Tracy, I contacted DCL regarding the food and they said non perishable FDA approved snack food in their sealed packaging may be brought aboard the ship. Anything open may not be brought off the ship in Port Canaveral or Port of San Pedro after the sailing. As far as wine, I contacted UPS and they said what they don't ask and I don't offer will be fine to ship.

Sandy, I agree with everything you said, but the port authorities said differently. If you are sending it to the port to be brought on the ship by the port workers, you should check with them before sending the wine. One of the last two newsletters had the address and information from Renee on shipping to the ship. I plan to bring my wine on with me. Don't want to risk losing it :rotfl2:

Speaking of wine, Donna or any other local, where in Anaheim can we find a liquor store that isn't resort area expensive? I was thinking of the grocery store west on Katella, but it's been a number of years since I went over there so I don't remember what all was there. Thanks!

Tracy

2 weeks worth of diapers in your luggage??? I think you need to send a box to the ship! Worst case, it doesn't get there and you have to buy some on board to last till we get to Cabo...or take that many along. I do realize there is the possibility of it not arriving, but if I were doing diapers, formula, etc for 18 days, I'd definitely ship some of it!

As to no laundry for 18 days, good luck. I was explaining the packing drill to my teen, and said that I planned to do laundry just once. Her response "well, duh...are you sure that's enough?" I told her it was, unless she planned to do it any additional times!
