Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

I feel like this cruise is finally going to happen. DS and I got our passports taken care of on Saturday...DH did his in April. I've ordered two of the books I'll be taking on the cruise...Susan Howatch's "The Heartbreaker" and the new bio of Lou Gehrig...I need to pick up "Disney Wars" and the new Michael Connolly, then decide on two or three more. I also bought our plane tickets...actually bought two sets...we have a week at Pop booked, but am not sure that is going to work out, but I can use the tickets for future flights so went ahead and bought them for the 3rd and the 10th...$99, can't beat that !

Hi everyone, HAPPY 4th to you all.

I found out our stateroom number yesterday, we've but in the dark with a GTY 10 for over a year now. They gave us a SECRET PORTHOLE ROOM #5020. :Pinkbounc :bounce: We're pretty excited to be in one, not our first time but I'm happy that we are not on deck 1. Not that there is anything wrong with deck 1, it's just so far from the kids clubs. Our DD loves going to the clubs, she'd go from the time they opened till they closed if we'd let her. We do like for her to have dinner with us sometimes.

WOW!! GOOD FOR YOU!! Ginger! i had the same stateroom when i was on the Wonder last Nov. You have the best porthole viewing reagarding the SPH rooms (the 5020/5520!!) whereas the 22's and 24's has lot of blocking on the porthole and can hardly see out!!! AND you will love the closeness of the kids club...so convienent but yet far away from the crowds...quiet and private too since there are not many staterooms in that area!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! :cheer2:

I love 5520. (just around the elevators from 5020) We have had it 3 times. The location is PERFECT! I only wish we could have gotten a SPR for this trip! That is why we changed from an 11 to a gty 9. Didn't think we could go without a porthole. (plus our 11 was in a noisy location). The waiting is killing me.

Question,

Does anyone remember what kind of juices are at Topsiders and/or the drink station? I am looking for cranberry juice and pineapple juice. I never drank the juices so I never paid much attention. My dd makes a wonderful Malibu margarita and I thought I could take a bottle of Malibu rum with us and hopefully get the juices somewhere on ship. Sure would save $$ on drinks!!

Sandy: They have cranberry, orange and apple, I believe.

Still not feeling up to snuff, but I am getting better. I always get sick from being on the plane. Any suggestions how not to in AUgust?

I got bronchitis/pneumonia and pleurisy. Not fun!

We were going to go to a ballgame yesterday, but didn't make it, so we cooked out hot dogs instead and watched the double header on TV.

I remember orange juice, fruit punch (maybe) and lemonade. Definitely no pineapple juice.

Hi guys.

I'm finalizing the fantasy pin/medallion order. LAST CHANCE to order your pins/medallions for the "at cost" prices ($2.50 per pin, $4.00 per medallion). Once they're ordered, then any extras we have will be sold for $5 each (or our choice of beverage once on the ship :teeth: )

Please PM me with your orders ASAP.

Thanks!!

We are looking for someone who is interested in working with us to get the pins from your cruise.

We were on the May Repositioning Cruise and were fortunate enough to get an extra Jumbo Pin and Map, but none of the other pins.

We were interested in obtaining a full set of pins from your cruise. We would be willing to pay for them. In addition, if you were interested we would trade the Jumbo Pin from our cruise for the Jumbo Pin from your cruise and the map for the map.

If you are interested please either PM us or email us tomaphillips@earthlink.net

Thanks for your help, hope your cruise is great like ours was, and that the pins are handled better than on our cruise.

Tom and Diana

Denine,

I think there is something you can take prior to flying that is suppose to help keep you from getting sick after you fly. I think it is called something like -airborne???? I am pretty sure it is over the counter. I have seen reports on the news that stores have a hard time keeping the product on the shelf. I am going to check into it for our flight to California in August. Sure don't want to be sick while on a 2 week cruise.

Carol

mark & sandra,
At this point leaving MCO via SW at 1:20 pm...also...my dad and his gf cancelled the cruise...can I get a refund on their transfer to MCO...I sent in a check for the 5 of us ? I understand if that is not possible.
To all,
46 days to go, and total fun and relaxation, I cannot wait !!! I have to read the book on the construction of the canal...that is my chore for tomorrow...either get it from the library or buy it. Is it too late to buy a door sign, T-shirts, etc ? I was afraid of jinxing things, so didn't buy anything cruise related...but think it is time to take the plunge. Am wondering about the internet service on the ship...I have to check my email once a day M-F, school is in session and I am a teacher...after reading some of the reviews of the first repo am a little worried...if I go up to the computers at 5 am do you think there will be a problem ?

Hey Ginger! 5020 was our assigned room for over a year until 2 weeks ago when pixie dust came our way with an upgrade to a navigators verandah. Enjoy 5020!!!

Denine,
Carol was right - Airborne is what you want. My daughter that lives in Michigan has used it the last two Christmas vacation times she has come to Ca with her family. They start taking it 3-4 days before they fly out here and then they go to Las Vegas for a week and here with the family for the holidays & then back to Michigan. They usually take it the whole time & never get sick. They just take one a day for prevention.
I will be taking it before I cruise for sure & probably during the cruise. It can be purchased at any durg store but I stocked up at Costco Pharmacy. They also have a website www.AirborneHealth.com if you want to check it out.
Hope you are feeling GREAT soon.

Great information Joyce! I agree one hundred percent with Joyce, Denine! I found out about taking Airborne from my fellow teacher friends. At the first sign of a cold, take it. Three days prior to a vacation, take it! I generally take three doses per day. In addition to that, just prior to getting on the plane (in the restroom no less) I have each family member use a Zicam nose swab. Read the directions, you need to gently pinch your nose for 30 seconds after application. We do this again right after getting off the plane. Make sure to get enough sleep, have balanced eating, and drink lots of water the weeks before your trip too. If you have any semblance of a sore throat, take a Zicam throat melt. You can take these every three hours, though I generally only take 3 a day as needed. Make sure to not eat or drink for 30 minutes after intake.

Get well soon!

Barbara (An advocate of Airborne and Zicam :sunny: )

Wide Awake -- it's never too late to order some t-shirts <G> You should get them in plenty of time. Don't forget to read our newsletter for other suggestions.

Susan - I ordered a couple of the May Repo cruisers pins - paid sep. directly to them. Now I can't remember if someone is giving them to me in Aug. or were they supposed to be mailed :confused3

Found out this weekend my garmet bag is shot -- looking to replace this week - since we will need it for the cruise. Plus - now that I cruised already with Arlene & Family on the Maid of the Mist (okay.... so 15 mins on the boat together - really isn't a cruise), we even have a nice lightweight poncho to use in August.

Going to check out the Airborne at Walgreens.

:cat:

I need some one to tell me how to make the request for the cliff divers. Haven't been able to find the link. Thanks.

Estelle

Thanks everyone for the info on airborne. I am willing to try anything! I get sick everytime we fly and I am tired of it. I have asthma, so I am really susceptible to stuff.
