Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

Hey gang: Is it only 10 weeks tomorrow til the sailing? It will soon be single figures and then the time will really fly by. I am so looking forward to spending time with you all and getting to know you better. Have a lovely weekend. It's been a Bank Holiday here on the Island (not in the rest of the UK) and we have had a glorious day. I think summer is on its way at last.

Hello everyone,

We just finished booking our excursions online (the DCL site is finally working again).

We booked: La Roqueta Island Getaway @ Acapulco

Spanish water snorkel tour @ Curacao

We are just going to go with the flow for the other stops.

Does anyone know if you have to rent the snorkel equip at CC to do the snorkel lagoon? My dd has here own snorkel stuff she wants me to pack. princess:

Thanks for the help. Have a great weekend everyone. :wave2:

My understanding is that if you bring your own you don't have to pay, but you do have to pick up one of their snorkel vest. It is also my understanding that these are free to use if you bring your own equiptment.

Donna

You can bring your own equipment to snorkel at CC -- and DCL will give you the vest (they require it) for free :cool1:

Benita & I travel with our own gear too ... you know it will fit -- don't have to worry if its been cleaned properly :earboy2:

71 days to go !

Thanks for the quick reply Donna and DisneyElf. On our last cruise we had to miss CC because we were in between hurrican Frances and Ivan. Hopefully we get there this time.

Thanks again.

I was worried about the snorkel cleaning too! We bought a set for DS last cruise at Costco - it was great because it had some sort of valve so water can't go down the "tube". I wanted to get another one for Aug for second DS, but couldn't find them now at Costco. Zellers and Walmart don't seem to have the ones with that valve thingy - maybe have to go to a dive shop?

Are you Canadian, Whiskers?? The Costco stores in the GTA have been selling the "dry" snorkel sets; I looked at them again last Saturday. I could check again for you if you'd like.

Hi Arlene! :)
Yes - Canadian - over on the Pacific Coast!
I haven't been to Costco for a few weeks and maybe I wasn't looking in the right place anyway! Thanks so much for the tip - I zip out to the new Costco tonight and take a look ( I was looking for a excuse to go :teeth: )

:rotfl: :cool1: I KNEW IT!!! Only Canadians know about Zellers! :rotfl2: Glad you'll be aboard!

I need a new snorkel, mine is from when I learned how to scuba dive in 1973 or so! I may have to look for one with the valve, I do plan on snorkeling on CC.

Costco has so many wonderful items. I shop there all of the time. Got our snorkel equipment there as well.
I hear there is one in Acapulco too
Have to stop in and take a look

This is just not fair. We don't have a Costco around here. I don't snorkle but from everything I've heard on here Costco has everything.

Have to start DH on the excursions now that the DCL site is opperational. We are hoping to do a tour in Cabo and something more in Curicao. Already have things planned with friends in Acapulco. Things are really moving now.
Temps have heated up round here. Been in the 80's and 90's this past week. DH says it is just getting us ready for August. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the info, I emailed them for information. Are you doing animal encounters only, or that and a shore dive?

A group of five of us from Los Angeles/San Diego will be on the repo cruise, who else is from this area? Are there any meet and greets planned?

What time do you think you will arrive at the port? We are getting ready to purchase our airline tickets.

Any strategies?

Deb

Mom2belleandpeterpan is in the area, as is dletz. If you haven't subscribed to the newsletter, you really should. ThHere is a TON of info there, as well as links to a great site listing a lot of the cruisers, where they are fromw, etc. If you email twhipple@fastmail.fm, and give her your DIS ID, she will get you on the list.

Can't wait to meet up with y'all!

Are you talking about Florida or CA? From what I have read, they open the port in CA about 10:30 and boarding starts at noon or so.

In FL, they usually get you off the ship darn quick, but with it being hurricane season, it could be delayed. Most people don't book flights before noon, just in case. I have never been to MCO where the line to get a boarding pass wasn't really long, and depending the airline, it can be a hassle. DH was there 2 weeks ago and waited about 1.5 hrs for security!

Whoops...I guess I should give more specifics...

I meant in L.A. What time will you try to get to the port?

Deb

I don't know yet what time we will get there. We are staying at the Holiday Inn because we have to get in a day ahead, and depending on the shuttle, we may not get there till around 1pm. I think people are getting ther antime from 10 am on! You have to be on board by 4pm, so it all depends on how long you want to wait in the terminal. Apartently they board by zones, but it moves OK, by what the west coast cruisers are saying. And they board 100 cards at a time in the zone, so if there are 50 partioes of 2 in zone 3, they will all board at once.
