Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

No docs here yet (but I was told they were printed Wed) so hopefully, I'll get them next week.
We booked the Acapulco 9:30 Cliff Divers tour yesterday and got the confirmation today-I'm really looking forward to it.
It's hard to believe 3 weeks from today, we'll be in CA :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Karen, how do you know when your documents were printed? Who did you call?

We have never dined at Palo's and now we have brunch, high tea and dinner booked. What is the clothing attire recommendations for each? I am asking in reguards to men and women. I am figuring out the outfits needed and I am not sure if I have enough NICE outfits. Formal nights, semi formal, Palo's, themed and casual dinner nights is a lot of clothing to pack!

I think each of us will have to bring a suitcase. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

FOr tea and brunch, I wore a pretty dress. Not fancy, but nice. Guys wore pants and a shirt at tea, no tie. For brunch, add a tie for the guys. WOmen, still dress and /or nice pants outfit.

For dinner, dress up like you were going to a fancy dinner in a big city. ANything from a church type dress to a formal is appropriate. Guys need a jacket or sports coat.

Palo for brunch and tea is cruise casual. I usually wear a shirt or skort (that also get worn at a dinner). Dinner is nice dress or pant suit for women and suit jacket for men (I believe) I know they specifically prohibit Tommy Bahama style shirts at dinner. Which I think is a hoot because some of those bad boys cost WAY more than a dress shirt. :goodvibes

My DH usually packs one suit and three dress shirtsand three differnt ties for a seven night cruise. When he was still planning to join us on this cruise we discussed sending shirts to the cruise laundry.

You must be much more organized than I am, I am still trying to figure out how to get it all in two suitcases each :earseek:

wideawake - congrats on the plastic surgery booking. Don't know what you're getting, but I highly recommend it! It does become somewhat addictive though. Wish I could afford more!

Oh boy, we will all have to compare notes!!!! There are a couple of procedures I would like to get too, but as I don't have a job, I can't afford it anymore!

If we were meant to have bags and sags, cosmetic surgery would never have gotten invented!

We were on the July 2nd. Mexico Cruise and did not get our docs until about a week before we went (and a friend who went the week before us got hers only days before they left). It seems to be taking a lot longer to get the docs for the Mexico cruise than what people have said about the cruises that leave directly from Florida.

Have fun all, and I wish we could join you!

Okay, now I have a new addiction. Before I was checking the DCL site for our room numbers 4 or 5 times a day. Now, I'm checking my window for UPS, USPS, Fex Ex.. anyone to come to our house. Hopefully they will come soon!

See you all in a few weeks!

Tracy - There is a Vons on Chapman - just down from Harbor Blvd. I asked on the Disneyland thread about walking there (its not far from our hotel) but was told it isn't the best area to walk in. Not sure what kind of wine they sell, but I'm going to order groceries online and have delivered to the hotel.
Diane

Thanks Diane. I will have a car so that's not an issue. That's too far for us to walk. I need to pick up other alcohol (rum, Baileys) and our sail away Asti (tradition). Getting closer now!!

Hi all - just got off the July 23rd cruise and we are tenatively set to sail the Repo cruise back - but this time with the kids. I hope that you don't mind me coming online. Was so excited that I had to force DH onto another cruise. We were lucky enough to do the May and totally enjoyed that one. When I found out that their were a few spots left had to book that. Danielle the cruise agent was extremely helpful and remembered us so she was able to secure some cabins. Got deck one but at this point beggars can't be choosers - I guess that I will take anything I can get. Anyway, don't know if anyone out there is listening/reading but thought that I'd put my voice in here. There was a group of about 14 disboarders on board and they had one meeting - but you all sound like your ready to have a blast. BTW - if you haven't already done so (I haven't gone back to read the past posts) I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend a shoe organizer that you can put on the metal doors. Tried that this time and it really helped keep our cabin tidy. As for the door signs I didn't have any trouble (we were at about the tail end of deck two #2581 & #2579) but another cabin posted a wonderful poster of Tinkerbell on her outside door - it made it until Friday nite & then it got lost. Make sure you don't put anything out you don't want lost. I happened to lose a gold cord that my daughter received from her graduation (I used it as a belt for my pirate costume) but I was very fortunate and got it back from lost and found the next evening. I was very lucky. Anyway, just had to share. If you have any questions just let me know. I will be lurking until then. Laura

Hi Laura,

Welcome to our group!

So you came here on the first repo, just got off the July 23rd cruise and now coming with us? You are very lucky!

You'll have to share some hints with us from your first repo cruise :)

Deb

Welcome, Laura. That's some cruise schedule this summer. We'd love any and all last minute advice you could give us. If you quickly e-mail WinoTracy you might just get in on the last newsletter that's coming out. It's a wealth of information about our group.

Laura welcome to the adventure.

You won't need sleepbags to get pins this time. :goodvibes

Hi Laura :wave2:
Welcome! We were on deck 1 last cruise and quite liked it. It was very peaceful and quiet. Counting the days! :sunny:

I was reading a web sight last night and it said Palo's for Men at dinner was jackets and/or dress shirt and tie.

DH has 1 suit that will be worn for formal and semi formal (I think we will need to have it cleaned at least once on the ship). We were hoping dinner could be a long sleeved dress shirt, tie and dockers. Would that be suitable or does he have to wear a jacket?

If DCL lists shirt and tie, I stand corrected. Most (if not all) the guys I saw at Palo had a jacket on. Don't pack more stuff just for Palo. Go with whatever the DCL site says!
Kathryn

Oh the packing is driving me around the bend!! :sad2:
I bought a nice outfit for the boys for formal night - no jacket but a vest, white shirt, tie, black pants for formal night. Thinking DH would wear a nice dark suit. But now he says his suit doesn't fit anymore (LOL) and he doesn't want to buy another one just for the cruise and I should just rent a tux for him. But what about semi formal night? And the boys and I really aren't that "formally" dressed now compared to him - pictures going to look funny? Silly to fuss so much I know, but I guess that is part of the fun of planning
Diane

On both our prior cruises my DH wore a jacket to dinner and would have been the only one without (we specifically took note because my father didn't want to have to wear a jacket). However, both cruises were before the relaxed dress code so maybe that has changed. I will see if I can find a previous Navigator to determine whether back then it also said shirt & tie was okay.

Laura, welcome !!!

stingfancb and mickeyfan1...know just what you mean. I've always been happy w/ my natural look...I just want to keep it !!!

I haven't packed a thing !! Just got two pairs of shoes today which I will send back because I don't like them...need to buy clothes for DS...DH will be home from Kuwait towards the end of the week...he does his own shopping.

My big thing is getting DS's stuff for his diet...can't decide how much food I need to bring for gluten/casein free...I know table meals will be okay but I want to make sure I have hot dog and hamburger buns so he can eat from Plutos, plenty of safe "milk", and yummy snacks. I've requested a table on our own so no one eats anything forbidden in front of him, just hoping all goes well. Besides his food I also need to bring 14 bottles of bubble bath, at least a case of water, 5 bottles of capsules, one package of filled syringes, two bottles of liquid meds, glutathione cream, and measuring spoons...which wasn't a problem when we were going to drive. I told DH we'd be buying more luggage. We also need to buy and practice w/ the two-way radios...does anyone have any idea which are the easiest to use w/ the best sound...DH doesn't hear well...as I tell my mother I'm w/ DS who doesn't talk, and DH who can't hear.
