Once again, I know this has been discussed before but "Search" just can't find it.

We want to bring some soft drinks on board to keep in our cabin. Dave's site indicates that while this is allowed, you MUST carry them onboard and not pack them in your luggage.

Now I can understand conserns with glass bottles, but what would be wrong with plastic bottles?

And realize that any airline restrictions is not an issue.

We will arrive at the port via a car. But with a 2yo on a 14 day trip, there is going to be a bunch of "consumables" that we are going to have to pack and I planned on just putting a six to twelve of those 20oz. plastic bottles in the checked luggage that will contain the other "consumables".

I don't think anything is wrong with bringing plastic bottles on board (or, at least I haven't read that it's a no-no).

In fact, we plan on bringing lots of plastic bottles of Diet Pepsi on board with us, wrapped in bubble wrap in our carry-on.

Unless I read otherwise, that's the plan.

I know that carry-on isn't an issue. I've done it several times my self. But our travel plans are a little different this time, and because it's a 14 day cruise, I want to bring more than I otherwise would.

So this isn't a question of bringing soft drinks in carry-on, it's a question of soft drinks in checked baggage (and again this is checked baggage that will NOT travel via airline, so airline rules are irrelevant).

The last time we cruised I tucked away 2 bottles of wine in my checked luggage (I wrapped and wrapped and wrapped it). My suitcases arrived with still in tack bottles of wine.

I assume they don't want people complaining about the baggage handling if the drinks pop open in your luggage.

If you're not arriving via airlines, I don't think it's a problem, since the contents aren't under pressure.

I had pop and beer in a small roller bag the last time we sailed and offered to take it with me but the porter that unloaded our vehicle said it wasn't a problem and he took it. Needless to say he got an extra tip!

Because even plastic bottles will break open if they get crushed, dousing your luggage and all the luggage under yours which doesn't belong to you in sticky soda pop.

The chances are slim, but DCL is so generous in letting us bring beverages on board - I'd hate to see them have to start disallowing it due to a few accidents.
