I have heard so many different suggestions about bringing your own water-we can make a stop the night before and get some bottle water-but is it really necessary? i do drink our own tap water at home but prefer bottled-but is the taste that different on the cruise? any opinions? thanks

We brought some bottled water. When we drank all of that, we just filled the bottles from the tap. The ship has a desalinization plant on board so lots of the water is a pure as bottled. I thought it tasted quite good.

FYI, I ALWAYS carry one or two bottles of water in my carryon for plane trips. On our plane trip to MCO, I was really glad I did since we were delayed for 3 hours on the ground after boarding the plane because of lightning in the area. (That's also another reason to come in the night before.)

I have always carried some bottled water because Cash having stomach problems is just something I don't want to deal with, but my room steward said a funny thing on the last cruise...When he saw the bottles of water on the sink he remarked that HE wouldn't drink the water on the ship either.... I chalked it off to personal preferences but did use more of the bottled water than the ship tap water after he said that.... I'm not sure it's something to be concerned about but I was surprised to hear a crewmember say that he wouldn't drink the ship water.

thanks for the responses-how do you bring it on board-do they let you just carry it on-also can you bring other beverages on board in plan site-or do they have to be in a suitcase? thanks

I haul it in the basket behind my scooter in a soft-sided cooler...it holds 11 bottles...enough so that both Cash and I can get used to the local water slowly...

We didn't bring our own but as soon as we got onboard we called room service and they brought up a case of I think it was 24 bottles and it was 30.00. Much easier than hauling your own onboard!

I packed a small suitcase with about 6 bottles of water, a box of juice boxes for the kids (came in very handy on the islands) and some of the kids' favorite snacks. When we finished the water we'd just refill the bottles from the Deck 9.

The best part is at the end of the week we had an empty suitcase to bring home all the souvenirs!! :)

I have heard some people put a luggage tag on a case and it appears with everything else.

They also are now selling a yellow soft sided cooler with 6 bottles of water or pop or a mixture. They started selling these the morning of our 1st excursion day. It was $15. You could also buy it with beer in it.

I went to the engineer's presentation about the ship on my trip in April. The ship stores about 2.5 days worth of water while in port at Cape Canaveral. This water is straight from the municipal supply. While underway, the ship makes it's own water by flash desalinization (boiling and condensing). They then chlorinate the water to US guidelines.

We thought the water was just fine to drink, no need to bring water.

The water on deck 9 is just as good as any bottled water I have had. It was delicious and very cold. I have always had a water bubbler in my home so I am used to good tasting water.
No need to lug water IMO.

we have well water always have so the water on the ship taste like city water to me, like it is treated?

As posted many times before, and noted on many Disney websites, DO NOT trick the tap water in your room. Even the CM's on board will tell you that. There is a filtered water tap at the Deck 9 beverage station which is wonderful and tastes great. We filled our empty water bottles and many mugs at that and stick them in our cooler.

However, the tap water in your rooms is not filtered for drinking. We don't even use it to brush our teeth -- we used the water we've gotten from Deck 9 to rinse.
