I will be bringing my own bicycle to FW.

I hope to use it instead of a golf cart to get around.

My question is:

Is there a bike rack near the marina, and if so, would it be safe to leave it there, locked of course, while I go to MK? Or would it be better to just take the internal bus to the marina. I have been to Pioneer Hall a couple times, but don't remember the layout, only the golf cart parking spot.

There are plenty of places around FW to lock you bike. Take it and enjoy!

We always bring our own bikes and never use the internal buses that run through the campground. It's just easier and more convenient to use our bikes when we are ready. There are plenty of places to lock them up throughout the campground. Although, in general, we usually only lock them up at night at our campsites and at the marina if we are taking the boat to MK to spend a few hours. Enjoy!

I was hoping some of you would understand :goodvibes .

I think I thought of the question is because when I was at WDW in March, I took the bus from DTD to FW to go to Hoop Dee Doo (previous trip I did take the MK/FW boat), mainly because I wanted to check out the place other than just the Pioneer Hall area. I seem to remember passing some of the internal bus stops and seeing bikes chained up to posts or something. Since I bought my new bike a couple months ago, I really enjoy riding it, one of the nicest bikes I have had. After a morning or evening at the parks I rather pedal back to the site than walk :teeth:

Having your own means of internal transportation around Ft. Wilderness is great!!

The only downfall I've found, and this is true if you have a golf cart, bicycle, electric scooter or whatever is make sure you return to the same end of the campground that you started out at that morning.

Once I didn't think about that and left my scooter at the marina that morning and returned from PI that evening (at the other end of the campground) and still had to take an internal bus to go get my scooter.

We love taking our bikes to FW, it is the nicest way to travel around the campground, there are plenty of places to lock your bike, inluding at the pool, there is also a great path that goes to the Wilderness Lodge, we always go there at least once on our bike.

Only 28 days to go and we will be riding our bikes around Fort Wilderness...that is really one of our favorite parts of camping there, it is so peaceful in the morning!

You will LOVE having your bike with you, and I agree, it sure beats walking from the marina or waiting for a bus when you have been walking all day around the Magic Kingdom!! :sunny:

I was just at FW this weekend and I did both golf cart and bikes. We are just planning to take our bikes on our next trip.
