Bringing my under-18 cousins to Disney

I'll be bringing my teenage cousins to Disney in August this year.

I know I'll need a notorized letter for them, but I don't know how to go about doing that. What do I write on the letter? Do I need a letter for the 17 yr old? Any info would be helpful.

Just check the yellowpages under notories or lawyers. Draft a letter with something to the point of "I/we (put parents names) give permission for (list kids names) to travel to Orlando Florida on vacation with (your name). They will be travelling (put dates) and returning (put date)."
Have parents sign (maybe include their phone number) and have you sign it.

Do a google search for the form letter required for crossing the border with a minor. The border services website has one you can print and fill in.

I would also suggest the parents giving permission for you to consent for emergency medical care , each state is different as to the age that a teenager is allowed to consent for treatment. I am sure others will give you more suggestions as to what type of paperwork you might need.

Do a google search for traveling with a minor consent letter Canada. There is a firm letter on the canafian government website. Personalisés it and print. The parents (not you!!) need to take picture ID and the children's passports to a notary. They will sign it, keep a copy and then give the parents the letter. If you prepare it in advance you will save lots of money! I get one to travel without my husband every few months. $20 with the letter pre done, $100 for them to do it!

If they have two legal guardians, BOTH must be present at the notary.

Thanks for everyone's replies! I had no idea there were pre-set templates I can fill out. The hard part will be getting both parents to go with me...our schedules are really different.

Make sure you have all the detailed out of country medical insurance information as well.

The parents don't need to go with you-- only THEY need to sign the document --

Even a bank teller can notarize it, as long as they go to the branch they have an account with -- and banks do not charge!

I'm not too sure about the bank. Call 1800 ocanada. You can get the answer to almost any question!

The parents have to go but you don't. You'll need to give them your passport though. You also should get a letter signed and NOTARISED allowing you to make medical decisions for the kids.

My Ex just goes to a lawyer and has it notarized, without me. I generally write the letter up and he takes it to the lawyer. He lives in another town & I've never had to be there. The one he did for our Oct trip cost $55, that was in Caledonia, ON though.

You maybe able to get it nortorized at your city hall for a cheaper rate - in Markham it costs $25.00 for the first document, $5.00 for subsequent documents.

City hall is usually week day only, if you need weekend service you'll probably need to find a private notary.

Our notary does it for free if you've used her in the past. We had to go someone else last year because she was on vacation. It cost $20. The guy actually took out his wallet and put it in (I guess it was under the table even if we were at his office!)
