It doesn't really matter. Iff a sever brought out bread and the table said "No thanks" - server's are allowed to take it away. You take away other plates. No difference.
And actually, it's a great place to do it.
A big ol' anti pasta salad.
Chicken Alfredo with broccoli substituted for pasta, smothered with romano.
Spaghetti and Meatballs (or sausage) with asparagus (or zucchini or squash) substituted for spaghetti, loaded with parmesan.
Yep - you can absolutely do low carb at an Italian place. I've done it and seen people do it.
