There have been quite a few reports that the pickpockets are in full force in Barcelona this year including around the airport. Be aware and take care of your belongings.

You might want to think twice about wearing your lanyards in Barcelona as it it would be a calling card saying "Pickpockets pick me!"

Too bad I can't travel w/my German Shepherd - he won't let anyoe w/in 3ft of me!!
In lieu of him - I'm taking all the suggested precautions - awareness and a concealed money wallet.

Yep, the lanyard is a definite "no no". Also walking around with your nose in a guide book or trying to read a map. I remember last year when we were in Barcelona we were warned about groups of teenage girls (pickpockets) who hung out a the metro stations.

I just try to be aware of my personal space and do what I can to keep others from crowding me. Be aware of your surroundings and try not to get distracted by all the activity around you- especially on Las Ramblas.

I think this was brought up ages ago by Lindsay and cause no one said it was a problem we went ahead with the meet as it was. Not sure how many people have already printed navigators thats the only thing thats gonna change and Id suggest we make a decision now cause we need to update everything. The Ice-Cream social I think has had invitations already made etc. Not sure though

I apologize - I concentrated on organizing the brunches and making sure the dates didn't conflict w/other groups' brunches. I didn't think about the times of the meet/social/brunch. I am usually so OC about plannng - I should have noted the overlap.
Again - sorry - don't have any solutions. But Patti (ladypoo) has cancelled the brunch - and the 8/20 brunch is now under the minimum.
What to do - what to do ----wringing my hands!! (trying to keep a sense of humor)
I've got a lot to do in the next few days - so whatever everyone wants to do - okay by me.

Wow - You are a clever girl!! However, DCL charges $10 to each person. So, hmmm - will take some juggling .........sleight of hand - good

No problem at all. Maybe if we change the meet as suggested to half hour before at least then people have half hour.

As said would it be possible to leave her on the brunch list for the 20th and then someone else take her place when we get on the boat? I'm sure if you went to guest services you could swap the name over once on the boat? That way she shouldnt be charged. Also if you got all the details of anyone who wanted to do both now you could manage to get that sorted early on the boat. Or if she didnt mind that person could just give her the $10 in cash for it

They do not charge until after the meal. So you might be able to drum up business between now and then. If not you can at least cancel her out the day before.

Its not your fault. Dont be silly.

Assuming me and sarah are still down for the brunch two people could take those and dont worry about changing the booking on the boat. They can just buy us a drink of the day or something?

Thanks for the suggestions - will do. I think it would be a good idea to start the meet at 10 am for the brunchers (is that a word?) - if its agreeable w/all.
I'll post all the names etc. on Friday before I leave. And I'm not flying until Tues. so changes can be made and on the ship. Its all good!

Funny story--we get half way through our cruise and started looking for something. DH goes through DS's backpack, and he had not cleaned it completely out at the end of school. There were a pair of 5" scissors in there! They went through two different airport security Then coming home, the SAME ds went all the way through security in Barcelona, gets in line for the plane with a full water bottle brought from the ship! He must look very trustworthy

looks like rain here again--got 7 inches of rain early tuesday morning--ended up with 4 1/2 feet of water at work--been a long couple of days here. . .

Been checking every few days and there hasn't been anything. But I was just able to get a late table on our last sea day. Not sure if we will want to eat that late, but I booked it anyway.
