Bringing Home the Magic - Part 2 - 8/18/07 - 9/01/07- list of cruisers on page 1

Good evening everyone! Didn't read this post for 24 hours and had quite a bit of catching up to do --loving it :cool1:

Donna,

Love the kids list idea. My DD is far from shy (12 at time of sailing) but would love to meet new friends so count us in.

Wackywexler & DenverVal, I know my DD will love to meet other "preteen" girls. She is growing up so fast that sometimes I can't believe my eyes. 12 years old - yikes!!!

Am I correct in assuming that this age group will be able to check themselves in and out of the clubs? Last year, she had to page us when she arrived at the club and page us when she left. When she left the club she was only allowed to come directly to wherever we were. She was really good about it and satisifed with this little taste of freedom but I'm wondering if anyone has given any thought to next year? We're cruising this August and am wondering how I'm going to handle it.

As far as packing goes, when we got off the repo last year I made a list of things I would take with me should we ever go on another 2 week cruise. We packed way too much stuff. I recall my list being very exact - such as how many pairs of pants, etc. Now if I can only find that list..lol

Good night all!

Mary

We are going to try to bring the same # of suitcase's this time - 1 garmet bag each (rolling type -and was the perfect place to protect our lithos that DCL gave us), and one large suitcase (inside the suitcase a small carry on for extra souvies). We should just make it on the weight limit.

We did the mix and match too for the last cruise - works great - did bring four different dresses for the formal & semi formal nights :)

We did bring our own laundry stuff last time - not sure if we will this time - I really miss those laundry tablets. I still remember doing laundry - the morning of Hurricane Hilary :rotfl2: On deck 6 laundry there was a couple of machines that could dry a load the first time through.

I am so excited our 1st Repo Cruise. Anyone from Oregon sailing? DH and I live in Beaverton looking at all the postings we are interested in going to Disneyland Paris. I do not know the 1st clue on what the transportation would be. The Saturday night prior to sailing, is hotel stay part of the package? Does anyone know? :figment: :tigger: pooh:

Where's my Federal Way fellow cruiser? There's a Rainforest Cafe in Southecenter. Let's have lunch! RFC always puts me in a Disney mood!

Can do on a weekend! :thumbsup2 I'll drag Beth....she is taking the boat to Spain for us!

Linda

Cool, let's pick a weekend! And maybe the BC or Oregon folks would want to take a road-trip here :lmao: :lmao:

By all means bring Beth. I may bring the kid. He's so excited about this cruise! Funny, I think we're more excited about the repo than we are about the 10-night...

Good Morning all -

I've been scrambling to catch up on all of the posts. I've had a fast couple of days here. I put my house up for sale last week and actually signed on the sale last night! I'm relieved that it sold so fast. My DH and I are anxious to start the next phase. We're moving from Minnesota to Wisconsin & settling in to start a family right after our repo cruise! I'll be needing lots of advice from all of you vacationing parents out there! Te he he! I want to make sure I do a good job raising a little DCL'er!

I'm not sure if there are any midwestern cruisers in this group, but if you're out there, give me a shout! I'm feeling a bit lonely, seems like many of you are from the coasts. Oh well! I'll just have to catch up with everyone on the Magic if I can't meet anyone in-person before the cruise.

Packing, a very important topic indeed. I didn't do TOO bad of a job on the last repo. I usually bring tons of swimsuits because that's all I wear! I agree with the majority though, I will probably bring a bit less this time around. I'm thinking that I'll bring the suitcase with an empty duffle bag for dirty clothes on the way home. Then I'll fill my original suitcase up with all of my souvenirs! Last August, I was packed to the gills on the trip home because of all of the things that I bought / was given along the way. The Panama book, Ducky Williams litho, navigators, my disney teddy bear from Mickey's Mates, Panama blanket, 14 days worth of lotion and shampoo (for my Granny, she loves that stuff!), and the crafts I made in Adult crafts. Everything really added up to quite a bit of space in the suitcase! This time around, I'll try to gauge for all of those extras collected along the way!

Unfortunately, work calls. Yuck!

Catch you later!

We live in Beaverton too! The Bethany area. How about you? It will be DH, myself and DD who will be 10 at the time od sailing. We will be going to DLP before the cruise. I have been looking at transportation options and it all looks very expensive. Lots more research to do on this trip.

The nice thing about doing the Repo back to Florida is that your bags can get heavier since we will be flying domestic once we get back to the states. So, pack and weigh your bags when you leave and all the souveniers you bring back should be no problem. The folks doing the other Med. cruises will really have to watch their bag weights :teeth:

We brought so many clothes last time it was CRAZY!!!!! I think we will pay the cost of laundering DH's dress shirts so he can bring 1 suit, 1 shirt and lots of different ties. I think 2 dresses would be fine (1 more formal and 1 semi-formal). See we just cut our clothing in half! ;)

Good Morning!

Just checking in also. I was wondering if anyone has seen the laundry tablets lately. I love taking them on vacation and have not been able to find them around us anymore. I can't imagine them not making them anymore. Wonder why they are not selling them around me :confused3

Is anyone going to do a list of where everyone is coming from? I hope there are other Coloradoeans aboard!

Erica-Congratulations on selling your house so quickly! Good luck with your move!

There is at least one other person - from CO -- DenverVal - going on the cruise :cool1:

Now - FYI - There is a BBQ at my house - just north of NYC - planned for July 2nd. A lot of the fools that were on the last cruise & will be on the this cruise will be there. :thumbsup2

Please email - if you want to come ... :goodvibes

Erica, I'll be there if you provide transportation for me from CA :moped:

Hi everyone! :wave2:

I've been also looking for those laundry tablets....can't find them anymore, either. They were perfect for travel. Drats.

Erica -- we're East Coasters....sorry. But I grew up in the Midwest! Does that count? :goodvibes

Packing/luggage -- auuugh. I so overdid it on last year's repo, too. DH said we could've been gone for the entire summer and had enough clothes! Determined not to lug so much with us this time. That and those international airplane flight weight restrictions will probably keep me in line! One can only hope! This time around, I'd love to keep it to one checked bag each, a carry on backpack for each boy and DH, and my can't-leave-home-without-it-new-favorite-totebag!

If you're on a quest for the perfect totebag......as I always am......check out Baggallini "a la carte" bag: http://www.baggallini.com/product.asp?category=4&product=150&mode=price.

Just got it before last month's trip and it worked great! Plenty of pockets inside, has 3 pockets on one exterior side and a larger one on the other, comes in either nylon or microfiber, has inside keychain clips, a smaller detachable zip bag inside, has a lighter color inside so it doesn't become a "black hole", long handles that actually go over your shoulder and stay there! Did I mention I love this bag? I got the larger size (naturally) and it's now my "Mom Taxi" bag....use it everyday. Love it!

Whew, take a breath.....getting too worked up over a totebag there! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Wow what a differance a day makes here.

Let me see..Congrats on selling the house, hope mine goes as well.

Very excited about the carrefour store, really like them. There used to be one outside of Philly. Best hot baguettes ever.

I will check to see if I can find the laundry tablets around here. Last time I found them in MA.

Love the idea of the picinic, wish I still lived in NY.

Is anyone gonna dress up for pirates night? I wonder if they will do a different theme night to tie in with Europe. Maybe something with Sombreros. olay :cheer2:

Lordy, you're all so ambitious! I wish we could spare the time to come out early, but between my jobs and Tony's, we'll be lucky to spare the two weeks. We're coming from Florida, so even though the trip out will be a pain, we'll be able to ease our way into the time change nice and slooooooowly coming back. I figure I will be comatose for the first day due to a combination of the time change and heavy-duty drugs to get me through the flight.

Oooh, Ds2mom, I love the bag. Of course I have always believed that I am one good bag or one rubbermaid container away from total organization. :rotfl2:

I just read a gazillion pages! WELCOME to all the newbies. You are going to have a great time. :thumbsup2

My DD will turn 10 on this cruise. I'm so glad Donna is willing to put the kid's list together. Thanks!

Erica (Disneyelf) I appreciate the lead you have taken in all the great info...it makes it all so much fun.

Check in later,
Darlene

DS2Mom - of course it counts :) Besides we have at least one person flying in from Chicago, a couple from Ohio & poss. one group from CA :goodvibes

Just let me know :cool1:
