Bringing freestyle cups on rides?

Trying to decide if purchasing the freestyle cups in the parks is worth it. Are they a pain to haul around and do you have to put them in lockers when you ride rides? Are you able to bring a backpack into the parks that you could store them in? Do most rides allow backpacks? (I am guessing some of the major coasters would not.) Also wondering if you can use the freestyle cups at Volcano Bay. Thanks!!

3 rides - Incredible Hulk, Rip Ride Rockit & Velocicoaster - use metal detectors so you can't have so much as a penny in your pocket. Only a lanyard you can tuck into your shirt is allowed on those - everything else has to go in a locker.

Several other rides - Men in Black, Forbidden Journey, Hagrid's, Mummy & Gringotts - have " no loose items" rule. Only a small 3 prong fanny pack is OK & anything else requires a locker.

Never used those cups so don't know how they work with the lockers, but generally speaking, we've found it pays to pack light at Universal 👍.

Last trip, we just put our 2 cups sideways in lockers. So, you'll have to make sure they're empty before storing. Sometimes they were in my backpack, but often we just lay them down next to back pack in the lockers (my backpack tends to be stuffed.)
Thank you! Did you have to store them for every ride, or just the few mentioned above as the ones you can't take anything on?

We stored them in lockers just on all the rides that DoryGirl mentioned. Not for the others, like Kong, Spiderman, Simpsons, etc. The rides mentioned above offer free lockers, since you can't bring any items on. There are paid lockers available too, but we've never used them. I think there are paid lockers near Ripsaw falls, and Bluto, because you and your stuff WILL get wet.

I have to say that this is one of the reasons I brought a stroller my last trip--the sideways lockers mean that you have to empty all drinks before going on most locker rides.
