Bringing food from US to Mexico

I'm going on a trip into Mexico in 2 weeks, and since I'm kosher, I need to know what food I can bring in with me. (frozen prepared meals, frozen meat/fish, cheese, etc.) Any resource I've found so far has been vague (except I know I can't bring any seeds or plants).

Help, anyone?

They now have some strict rules. Did you book with a Travel Agent? They have many resources and can contact the resort or hotel you are staying at to see if you are able to do so. If you booked it online, you are pretty much on your own.

I just asked my nephew who lives in Mexico. Prepared foods should be fine. Just nothing raw like fruits and vegetables. They even declared a cooked turkey once while passing over the bridge and had no problem.

I am a flight attendant. You CAN bring industrially packaged and unopened foods, just not fresh fruits, vegetables, or raw meat. I would honestly declare EVERYTHING, on the off chance that they try to give you a hard time. It is REALLY strict going in and out of Mexico. Better safe than sorry.

And just to add, you never know what kind of customs agent you will get. Have a backup plan, because they have been known to up and throw things away anyways.

If you are driving, I have no clue. The rules may be different.

Are you driving or flying? When we went to Mexico (Baja) we flew to San Diego, met up with the people we were staying with and all the rest of the guests and we drove across the border. We had NO Problems and we had all kinds of food with us. One of us has celiac's so she had to bring a lot of special food with her that we would not have found in Mexico.
