Bringing beer on the ship

I like Guiness, but there cans are bigger, is it okay if I bring a 4 pack of 13.9 oz each? It is still less beer than a 6-pack.

6 beers @ 12 oz. = 72 oz.
4 beers @ 13.9 = 55.6

The requirement is 6 beers of no more than 12 oz for each one. I know they don't make allowances for people to bring smaller bottles of wine (but still no more than the 1500 ml max for all of them). You can bring 2 bottles of wine of, say 250 ml each, but only two bottles (regardless of the fact that you have less than the 1500 ml max allowed). So I'd think that beer would be the same - you may bring up to 6 bottles, each bottle can be no larger than 12 oz. You may bring 4 bottles of beer, or 6 bottles of beer, but each one must be no large than 12 oz.

That's crazy, it is still a lower amount of alcohol in total.

I would think that for any technical questions like how they treat the ounces and stuff like that, just call DCL and ask, they seem pretty helpful and I'm sure they'd lay it out for you.

Sadly, the people who answer the phones don't have all the answers. You can call and ask 3 different people the same question and could probably get 4 different answers (one person might ask the supervisor after answering your question and then get a different answer).

Many of the people who answer the phone are only working from a script, and haven't even been on the ships, much less been a part of the actual embarkation process.

But, it's a starting point, just don't count on the answer being correct.

Anybody know how hard cider counts? Is it treated like beer? We have a friend traveling with us who loves the stuff.

I believe, if the bottle says "beer" it's allowed. If it doesn't - probably not. But I think I've read that some people have taken hard cider on with no issue. You could give it a try, if it doesn't work, they'll hold it for you til the end of the cruise. You pick it up in the terminal upon debarkation.

Do you have experience with this at the port?
