Bringing back spices

We are going on a cruise in a few weeks. We have an excursion to a spice factory. Was wondering if anyone knows if the port authorities allow us bring back spices purchased for personal use. This is for US customs.

I've brought back spices from jamacia. they were prepackaged and sealed. never had a problem.
