OK this might be a dumb question and I searched the threads so hopefully someone here can help.

I know Disney allows people to bring their own food and beverage into the parks, but does this extend to alcoholic beverages, namely canned beer?

Let me say first that I can understand why this would NOT be allowed, for a variety of reasons. Obviously, if someone has been sipping all day from a bottle of vodka they brought into the park, this could pose safety ricks for that individual, park staff, or the general public. Also, I agree that its not appropriate for someone to be drunk off their *** at Disney. Furthermore, Disney could lose money if people bring in their own liquor (even though they may lose by allowing people to bring in their own food, but I digress).

Anyway, just looking for a simple answer as to whether this would be permitted. As I said, its canned beer that we could have a "sleeve" for-keeps it cold and we also wouldn't be displaying to the World (no pun intended! haha) that it was alcohol in the cans-could be a soda. I'm thinking a cold "sippy cup" for my bf might help him cope with the heat of the parks! :rotfl:But if its not allowed, we won't be trying to bend the rules in any manner - its not worth it to spend precious park time arguing with CM's over a policy they have no control over, when I get get Bucko a cold one just inside the gates! haha

Thanks!

Not allowed. You can buy alcohol in all parks except MK but you cannot bring your own into any.

And conversely, you cannot take any alcohol OUT of a Disney park. So if your boyfriend has a beer or whatever and wants to take it out to the bus stop with him, he cannot do that.

So, just let your boyfriend know if he wants something inside the parks, he will have to buy it there.

FYI - Bud Lite is available for $5.50 at every park (except Magic Kingdom, of course) so if the needs are simple, like ours, you can have a drink or three and it won't cost an arm and a leg.

But just remember that drinking only alcohol in the heat isn't a great idea. I'd pack a bottle of water or two as well. Alternate and you'll be fine. That's what we do.

If you are staying onsite, this is easiest... Have beer in your room, take a mid-afternoon break to the hotel, get obnoxiously drunk and head back to the parks. Saves quite a bit of money. If your buzz is going down or you haven't annoyed enough families, you can buy a beer everywhere except MK which should help you make it through the rest of the day.

As said by others, it's not allowed. But at your resort's pool you can bring your own canned beer or other drinks in non-glass bottles.

Just to clarify, that would be open alcoholic drinks. You can buy and take bottled wine out of EPCOT.

popcorn:: Can't wait to see how far this one goes!!!

Thanks for the responses everyone! I actually can't believe how cheap the beer in in Florida (Disney included!) compared to home, so he will happily buy a beer in the park if he wants one badly enough. Chances are, like a PP said, he'll be too hot to drink a beer until he returns to a nice air conditioned room haha.

And thanks for the tip re: bringing it around the pool, I'll pass it along to him :)

Oh and this is his first time at Disney and on any sort of roller coaster...no way is he going to be drinking any amount that might get him buzzed, which might lead to him being sick! haha

We use sports bottles. Say what you want but we have two kids 8/4. It makes it a much more enjoyable experience with a little buzz (not light year) Lol. Use one sports bottle to hold your "holy water" (we use vodka). Pack those crystal light lemonade packets and when ready get some ice, a bottled water and mix your vodka lemonades in the other sports bottles.

Each of the parks* has an "on-premises" liquor license, just as a bar or restaurant. Therefore it is illegal to bring in or remove alcoholic beverages.

*1 - MK does have a license as it does serve alcohol at private parties.

*2 - Epcot also has an "off-premises" license so it can sell unopened bottles of wine.

Don't count on that working. The people who check your bags at the gate are checking for stuff like that. We saw someone get busted for trying to pull the vodka in a water bottle trick (and it was not a clear bottle either). If they catch you and you have to stand there while they question you/confiscate it, you tend to look a bit redneck.

Just buy it in the parks or don't drink that day.

Wow, that's a tad bit snarky. Do you assume everyone who drinks gets obnoxious? That's a bit...um...judgemental. The OP asked a question- in no way were they implying they were going to get plowed under and annoy your family. Some people drink to take the edge of of assumptive people. Just sayin'

Um, bit redneck? You ever seen the Jersey Shore crowd?

And on that note: popcorn::

Uhm. And what may I ask does this imply??? <----Being from Jersey and all..

We sneak in a water bottle filled with vodka, some bottles of coke and 2 empty cups. We get ice from one of the restaurants and make drinks while the kids go on the rides. Makes the night much better.
