Is bringing a Droid home on an airplane advisable or is it too risky it may break? How much space did they take in suitcase?

Flew home from MCO I yesterday. My kid each had had Droid in a backpack and their lightsabers, in their sheath. Droid went underneath the seat in front of them and the lightsabers in the overhead bin. No problems for either.

For our flight to MCO from home the TSA agent (manager on call) came very close to not letting me through security with my lightsaber. This was probably my 4th time taking it back to WDW. She was very clear that they do not allow weapons and then compared it to a lacrosse stick and said they don't alow those either. I explained that I flew home with it from MCO with no issue. She said, "they probably made an exception for you". 😐

We have a light saber honestly cant see how it could be a weapon :laughing: Thank you for letting me know though since my daughtersBF was considering building one. I'll tel him build it at your own risk not being able to take it home.

Taking it home isn't the issue as the MCO agents know what they are. The Droid, lightsabers, Banshees, etc.

On the off-chance they don't let a lightsaber on the plane, I see no reason they wouldn't let you check it. You can always ship it, too.
Check it with what protection? I personally wouldn't check it with the pool noodle sheath that they give you from Savi's.

If there is any concern I would disassemble the hilt from the blade. Pack the sheath and hilt into your luggage. If you build a saber at Doc Ondar's you get the paper box for the blade. You could either pack that box into your checked luggage or carry that piece on with you.

We took an R2 droid home in a carryon. We checked a BB droid. The only difference we saw was that the BB had clearly been opened and inspected when the checked bag went through security. But the BBs are a different shape and so it might have been opened if we took through carryon too. Both droids arrived home in perfect shape!

Given how cheap shipping is around Disney World (most places were quoting a flat $9 rate for anything in the store, including multiple items and some stores waived the sales tax if shipped outside Florida), I would just have Disney ship it home for you, then you know it will get packaged correctly and make it home safely or Disney will fix it.

Oh wow I didn't think it would be this cheap at all. Id gladly pay $9.
