Bringing a Cat to FW?

We have a 5th wheel camper and will be spending 2 weeks at FW this November. We recently rescued a cat from the SPCA and are now trying to figure what to do with him for our trip.

There is a kennel our area, but he would be miserable there. He is more like a dog then a cat....he is so people needy. I'd hate for him to think he was back in the SPCA.

I feel like if we brought him with us, no one would even know he was there. He is quiet, well behaved and stays strictly indoors.

Has anyone here brought their cat to FW with them? If so, do you have to pay a pet fee or stay in a pet loop? How would that work?

We don't have any pets but last summer I saw a type of bird cage hanging out of a window of a class c. It took a while to figure out what belonged in the cage and finally saw a cat sitting in the cage, enjoying the sunshine! They kept the window open and the cat could go in or out as it pleased. This was in the 1700 loop, a pet loop. I am pretty sure you still have the pay the fee. I have even seen people walking their cats on a leash. We were there over New Years and a guy was walking around the campground with a parrot on each shoulder. You never know what you will see!

I have seen cats sleeping in the front window of Class "A"s in almost every loop. I'm sure there are lots of folks who don't declare a cat.

Personally, I would tell them I have a cat and pay the 5 buck daily fee and stay in a pet loop. The rules make no exception as far as type of pet, cat or dog, and I would be a little upset personally if I stayed in a non pet loop and someone was staying with a pet there. Before you flame me, I have a beagle who always travels with us, stay in the pet loop, pay the daily pet fee, and kennel him during the day.

Personally I see no reason to pay extra and declare a cat that will never leave your camper. You're not impacting disney property, disturbing other guests, etc. However, if you plan to take him out at all, for a little sunshine etc, then I definitely would register in a pet loop. JMHO :)

Just reviewed my literature from last October. The rules say, if you have a pet, you must be in a pet loop and pay the 5 dollar daily fee. It doesn't say it's okay to keep your pet in your camper in a non pet loop, nor does it say cats are exceptions. Considering what I pay for my camper, tow vehicle and Disney vacation, a 5 dollar per day fee to comply with rules is a minor expense to me.

We were in a pet loop in Oct (although no pets) and there was a cat in a motor home. He (or she) slept up on the dash all day every day waiting for him owners to come home. We thought it was so cute. (We're cat owners as well).

I have both cats & dogs that travel with us and remain in our trailer, some in crates, some remain free inside the trailer. While I love to cut costs where I can, I would never do so by not declaring my animals. When I was a teenager, I had classes (for a short period of time) with a guy who was so super allergic to cat dander that my being in the same classroom at the same time with him would cause him to sneeze uncontrollably. After I (and others who had cats) were switched to a different schedule, he was able to continue classes without interruption. I would never want to risk someone else's vacation enjoyment by being so thoughtless as to sneak a pet into a non-pet loop. JMHO from experience.

I also think you should request a pet loop and declare the cat. What if he got out? You would definetly want some help in finding him.

When you check in tell them you have a cat that will stay inside the rv, and let the professionals decide where you need to be. I've heard of one camping family that had to move to a pet loop because someone complained. Disney knew they had a cat and didn't care until the complaint.
