Hello, I was just accepted as a character performer for FA. I arrive June 15th. I am from Pennsylvania, and I'm trying to figure out if I should bring a car or not. I know they say it's encouraged, but I live so far away that the trip down to florida would take very long if i took a car. Is it really worth it to bring a car? do the shuttle buses really take you everywhere you need to go? I'm just wondering because if I'm training in a place like I auditioned (which took 5 people and a lost taxi ride to find out where it was), the buses won't run to these places. Will my life be expoentionally easier if I bring a car?

There are pro's and con's to bringing a car. I did one program without one and one with one. I also drove all the way from L.A the second time so that was a fun car trip.
Anyways.. The busses do run on a schedule you may just have to leave an actual hour before your start time. As some busses make mulitple stops to either other complexes or work locations. They do run to the WalMart on John Young Parkway which is in complex with a payless, hair cuttery etc. You would save money on gas and insurance. If you happen to have to work a special event like the One Mighty Party at the Studios till 3 or 4 am then you do have to call and wait like 45 min to get picked up. Also if the busses still share like one buss for Epcot and MGM then at night theres a chance you will be waiting to get on a bus cause it's full.
If you bring your car you would have to pay for gas and insurance, but you can go where you want when you want. You could always take the bus even if you bring a car. It's not like they say you can't ride the bus if you bring your car. Unless of course your a PI or MI and then you have to bring a car.
If you would like to go to the mall, beach, downtown Orlando you can do so without having to find a ride from someone. You will also make aot of friends because you have a car while others don't. Which means you can politely ask for gas money from them.
Grocery shopping is so much easier. Remember the bus does go to WalMart but you have to carry what you buy from the bus stop to your apartment. And your apartment might not be close to the bus stop. At night when you leave work you can actually leave work and not have to wait for a bus or run after the bus that is just leaving.
It's up to if you bring your car or not. I enjoyed having it but that's just me.

Don't worry about that part. The busses will take you everywhere you need to go for work. :)

I think you nailed it with your last statement.. It will make your life exponentionally easier if you bring your car. :)

If you can bring your car I would. Especially because sometimes the bus to Wal-Mart/ Food Stores do not work with your schedule, and if your apartment is far away from the bus stop it is tough to carry your groceries. I'm from Pa, too. I didn't take my car down for my cp but now I'm doing a PI so I have to take my car. I'm just going to take my car on the autotrain its not too expensive and it beats driving that far.

I live in PA and go to school in Florida. I already had my car down here for the semester, but I ship it back and forth. May be an alternative (if you can afford it, it's around $500 each was depending on your car) if your car wont make the drive (mine has a lot of miles and it's a Ford, so it probably wouldn't even though its only a few years old).

You can survive without a car, but you will most likely spend the whole time wishing you brought one.

I really hate long car rides, but it was worth it to have a car.

I will be driving down from new jersey and even though it's a long ride, I think it will be well worth it. For one I would have to be paying for my cars insurance even if my car was still in jersey, that just seems like a waste. Secondly it's really important for me to be able to have control over my schedule and sometimes public transportation makes that really hard. Just make sure that if you are doing a long car drive get your car checked before you leave so it doesn't die in the middle of no where.

Hello! My name is Jennifer and I will be driving down to Disney too, I'm from Ohio so that is going to be a rough car ride but in the end I would much rather have my own car and be able to go places when I want to! Hope that helps! :goodvibes

I am currently on my CP. One of my roommates brought his car down from Seattle, Wash. It is TOTALLY worth it. The buses that run to places like walmart and publix are TERRIBLE. Bring your car.

I'm bringing my car too. It just offers so much freedom to go to wherever you want to go. And it's not like you're driving from someplace like Alaska. Has anyone ever done that? Bet that'd be quite a trip!

2 summers ago I drove from FL to Alaska, that was fun and so was the the gas bill at the end:confused:

That's actually not bad. What service do you use?

Hi! I hope someone can answer my questions. Originally, we had planned to drive my daughter and her friend down, however, after reading all of the messages about the advantages of having a car, my daughter would like to drive down. The car is in my name and Im wondering if that is ok and also if you can give me any information on the insurance and what we'd have to do (if anything) about that. I read somewhere on all these boards awhile ago a few things regarding bringing a car down, but cant remember where I read any previous information...so, anyone who can fill me in, I would appreciate it. Also, the post from the person who had their car shipped down, could you give more info? what service you used, etc? Thanks Everyone!
