My wife and I are execting our first baby (it's a girl!) and we plan on making a trip in Jan 2006 @ BCV.

Since this is our first trip with a child is there any hints that we should know about?

Safety, feeding, treats, etc?

Any advice would be appreciated. Feel free to PM with any tips if need be.

Thanks

I brought my 2nd daughter when she was 5 months old. It went really well. She pretty much ate, slept and was able to come on most of the slow rides while we held her. It is easier to bring them at this age then when they are a little older and want out of the stroller etc. We did have to bring a lot of stuff. Bottles, diapers but overall it went really well.

Congrats on the princess: !

You should have a great time! It is somewhat easier to take them before the hit the 1 yr mark when they start to exhibit their independence. I would say that as for feeding at 4 mths....it should be a breeze although at that age you will be doing a lot of feeding. If your wife is planning on breastfeeding, it will be much easier as far as packing bottles, formula...etc. I found it easy to nurse discreetly while at WDW. They also have baby centers with rocking chairs, but I have never used one or seen one. You won't need anything at that age except formula or breastmilk as far as food goes...pack lots of diapers(LOTS) and a ton of outfits and get a stroller that lays flat and you'll be good to go. I also suggest a sling type carrier. I had a Maya wrap that was priceless during my WDW trips! Great for carrying a newborn and provides privacy for nursing and shade from the sun with the extra fabric tail. Highly recommend it!

you'll have a great time....takes things slow, babies (for me) are the easiest to take. Take advantage of the baby centers - they are great!

How clean are the baby centers?

We'll be taking Amelia for her first trip this December -- She'll be almost 8 months.

I am a light packer and so I only had a small diaper for 2 kids and myself. I agree that breastfeeding is so easy when it comes to spending the day in the parks. I just adored not having to do anything but find a shady bench. By the time you go, mom would be skilled enough at it to be discreet and maybe even eat her lunch at the same time. If you bottle feed I would bring a can of powder and fill the bottles ahead of time with water. The water will be warm enough without requiring heating and you won't need to worry about keeping the formula from spoiling. Just mix as needed. You can even pre-measure the powder and put them in individual baggies. (hmmm side note: will security think it is something ilicit?) :rotfl:

I brought 2 changes of clothes, disposable bibs and diapering pads diapers and wipes. That's all. A stroller that lays flat and has a sun hood with plenty of coverage too.

Just take it slow and enjoy the baby swap option they offer. Have fun and congrats!

Our third was 10 mos old when we went a few years back, and I agree that nursing was so easy with her. Milk was always there and the right temp. when she needed it, and I realize she is a bit older than yours, but we only needed to pack some cheerios for snacking and a jar or two of baby food since she ate some soft foods at that time off of our plates. We also used a baby snuggly more than the stroller even at 10 mos. She was a petite little thing and still is. She slept a lot and loved to be able to be turned forward as we walked to see everything when she was awake. I would take the stroller for sure, just saying ours loved the snuggly too. It was much easier for us than I thought with a baby that trip. One of our best. Congratulations on the bundle of joy!! :flower:

Another vote that says nursing will be so much easier then fussing with formula in the parks, and will be so so so much better for the baby anyways! I'm taking my 12 month old with us on this trip and am going to keep BFing her just so i dont have to worry about milk staying cold, ect while at the park, just put her in a carrier and nurse, this is my favorite carrier for nursing in www.kozycarrier.com i LOVE it!!! Most of all have FUN! :)
