Bring back the parade!

It was especially bad because Robert Iger personally came to my house and tied me securely to my least-comfortable living room chair. He then stole my remote and put superglue on my TV controls so I couldn't change the channel. He made me drink two cups of coffee so I couldn't even fall asleep. It was so disappointing that I had to sit and watch the Disney Frozen thing and not turn off my TV or listen to music or sit with my pets or anything else!

The world seems so dead to me today.

Lucky you.

The rest of the viewers mistakenly held out false hope that it would somehow get better.

You will probably be the only viewer next year, if you are still glued to that chair.

In the past few years we've only seen bits and pieces of the "parade" and usually it was just singing and dancing which we didn't care for so didn't even turn it on this year.

I'm looking forward to the Rose Parade, on HGTV with no commercials. :)

I gave up on this parade years ago. Was surprised when I later learned it is taped weeks ahead of time and spliced together in the name of perfection. That last time I watched, they were bouncing between coasts (WDW and DL) and with all their Disney stars performing. It just drove me nuts.

So I find it unsurprising that folks are up in arms this year.

But for some of you...(the FP+ fans) I thought Disney could do no wrong:confused3

Obviously they can and they do, this debacle was the perfect example. We put it on and did not pay any attention to it because it was boring.

DH is convinced that they are having problems with Aulani since all they do is promote it to death, even through DVC.

When the *cheapest* room is over $450 a night, I doubt many people can afford it.

I am so glad I recorded this mess and then was able to zip through the whole broadcast in about 15 minutes. The Aulani "reunion story" was particulary bad, I thought. They couldn't find a family more deserving of a beautiful trip than some guy who moves to Hawai'i to "further his career", but later says his wife only does volunteer work and he goes to school? I assume he works as well, but I certainly wasn't "moved" by their story.

ABC (the company that produces these silly "parades") and parks are two different entities.

And the assumption that Disney can do no wrong solely belongs to those who use the statement in a debate against others who may not have an issue with a specific thing. But no one has really ever claimed that.

I'm sure Aulani has much available hence the promotion of it and they do need to sell it. I believe they had trouble with an on site DVC as well, but I forget which one. Saratoga, I think. They don't always hit it out of the park which may be why they opted to build all around the Seven Seas Lagoon to the dismay of long time devoted guests of those hotels.

Walt Disney Company has also had movies fail. But that has nothing to do won't FP+.:confused3

I PVR'd the parade and am beyond disappointed with it, didn't even watch it all...over 45 minutes was painful enough!

Unbelievable Disney promotion/advertising and entertainers singing poor renditions of songs (I don't want more entertainers, I want more Disney magic :( )with very small "blips" of parade and characters

I think this is the first time in history that the entire DIS boards has agreed on something. :rotfl2:

United we stand in our disappointment of the (lack of) Christmas (non) parade.

I checked the Facebook page, and it seems the rest of the world feels the same way.

I believe you may be correct! :rotfl:

My first thought at seeing Tim Tebow was that the Duggars must be at WDW. ;)

It does when you have people who think that the parks can not fail at anything, "Disney does everything that is just super duper magical" and like any corporation, or any division, they can and do have blunders like this parade and imho FP+.

You have brought up a non sequitur. It has nothing to do with it. I have not watched the parade in years--probably before even legacy existed, but I don't remember.

If I want a parade, I show up at the park to watch it.

I have not heard any condemnation of the live parade. Have you?

This was a blunder of a television production, a blunder many years in the making.

But please, let your jaded opinions of how the parks operate allow you to continue to make false comparisons.

I didn't watch, but it sounds like kin to what would be rolling on the in room Must Do channels.

Not at all.

Come on, DISers have somewhat of an obsession with those channels. The "celebration" showed so little of the parks, except for what happened to be in the background of the performances.

I don't understand how not liking the ABC special shown on Christmas morning has anything to do with Magic Bands?

Our family tradition has always been to have brunch while watching the Disney parade. After this year, I fear we need a new tradition, as I did not see one thing in that "Parade" that made me excited for upcoming Disney trips. Too much Aulani and too much Tim Tebow.

WORST. PARADE. EVER!!!!

Dear Disney Executives,
I certainly hope at least one of you caught HGTV's broadcast of the Tournament of Roses Parade. Now, THAT is how you show a parade. The emphasis was on the floats, the bands, the people. While the hosts (and they were comfortable in their roles and pros) touted HGTV shows, we weren't subjected to mind-numbing schlock and pathetic singing performances. It was refreshing and a clear winner, especially compared to your show.

While I shall not watch your Christmas celebration again, HGTV earned my attention for the entire two hours, and I've become a repeat viewer for them in the future. I hope (though doubt) that you were paying attention--you could learn a lot.

Signed,
Loving HGTV

I LOVED watching the Rose Parade on HGTV this morning. Disney should take some notes.
