Bring back Claire!

Yes...at least she had a heart! I don't know if I even still want to be part of a "club" that is so exclusionary. Very sad and very unmagical now, IMHO!

I am with you! Or, at least, get rid of Potrock! Anyone know the history of the heads of DVC...Crofton, Potrock...who else and what years?

Is this what you are looking for: https://*******.com/dvc-information/history-of-dvc/ ?

Claire was too nice and forthcoming. Not what Disney wanted, they wanted a showman who could come up with ways to make more money.
So it that Yeah or Nay, Bill? I agree with your observations -- and they underscore exactly why I'm pining for a return to HEART.

So Aguel until 2003, then Lewis until 2011, then Bilby until 2103 and now Potrocks. Lewis was in when the first reslae restrictions happened and i am assuming that was to try and recoup for the Aulani debacle. So what has Potrocks done that lead to this new restriction? Or is it the Shanghai mess? Yep, I want Bilby back.

I don't think Claire was ever intended to be a permanent replacement for Lewis.

Meg Crofton was never head of DVC. See this link: http://www.disboards.com/threads/th...acation-club-dvc.3456290/page-4#post-54665067
There have only been four: Aguel, Lewis, Bilby, and Potrock.

True Meg was never head of DVC. But weren't there a couple of other leaders in the earliest years?? Why I am thinking Matt Ouimet was for a bit? (LOVED that Disney leader! He headed up DCL for several years. Super nice guy.)

True. Claire's expertise seems to be to come into messy situations and calm things down. I met her and she was a genuinely nice person. I've met Potrock very briefly as well. He seems like a very nice person. I just know he has a LOT of irons in the fire. DVC is far from his only responsibility.

This is starting to sound like Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers in Harry Potter. :)

Sounds like the arts director where DS dances. She's sweet, but has so many irons in the fire that she's doing a crappy job at ALL of them.

I think that there can be a balance between sustained growth and profit while providing an exceptional product. Disney decided that even more profit can be made sooner by cutting employees, quality of product, reducing included offerings and charging extra for everything they can.

Claire wasn't that kind of executive and she not only was removed at the DVD/DVC, she was moved to another country.

:earsboy: Bill

Help me out on the timeline here. Restrictions announced early 2011, implemented March 2011. Aulani maintenance fees debacle recognized mid-2011, sales suspended temporarily. Sales resume. Lewis out August 2011.

:confused3 i don't know the timeline that closely and I only perused the link above to see what years each DVC guy came in. I just assumed the 2011 restrictions came after the Aulani issue. If not then why?

Were you thinking the resale restrictions and Aulani were related? I never saw the two as inter-related any further than DVC was attempting to keep direct sales high so the resale restrictions were added to try and convince people to go direct and Aulani books were cooked to lower MF's and encourage people to buy.

Bring back George Aguel and his policies! DVC was never better!

I agree that the 2 were unrelated. As for the Aulani books being "cooked", I do not gamble but I would bet some pretty big bucks that was NOT the case. There was a major screw up with that whole mess. Hawaii's laws are quite different for timeshares (among other things) and Disney didn't have any legal folks that were apparently up on all the nuances from what I heard. It was seemingly the straw that broke the camel's back for Jim Lewis that someone dropped the ball big time on that one. It's costing some big bucks to DVC as a result.
