Our family of 5 is staying in a BWV studio this summer, and the pull out couch is only a double. Not sure my two daughters will be o.k. with that, or would prefer to have one of them in a blow up twin mattress.

If we bring our own bedding and an inflatable, is that o.k.?

Dan

We fly so we could not bring one with us
For many years we would get one from Walmart or order one on Amazon and have it delivered to the resort.
Never an issue
(Before DVC began to charge for deliveries)
I would get one for about 40ish bucks.
When we checked out we left it there.
Mousekeers were happy .
Just make sure you get one with a pump.

Thanks!

I'll run the idea by my daughters. I think I can fit a twin (even one with a built in pump) in a checked bag. I looked at the box dimensions and they are around 9*10*16 and 11 lbs. I would also plan to leave it.

If you are going to leave it, I would still get it delivered, the delivery fee isn't that much and honestly, it would be much easier than bringing it with, unless you already have one of course.

We are bringing one for our trip next week. We will leave it in our owners locker to use next trip in June.

In addition to the sofa bed, there also is the pull down bed under the TV at BWV.

ETA: Just realized you are a family of five! I was wondering why no one mentioned the other bed!

I think the challenge in BRV is where you put it with all 3 beds in use. Probably the kitchenette, which will block bathroom access.

We did this all the time when my daughter was younger and napping. We would put the air mattress in the corner, sort of between the pull out couch and sliding glass doors. (Not at BWV, but at several other DVC resort studios). We had to shift some furniture a bit, but it worked! Disney doesn't seem to mind. No one ever said a thing about it.

We did this all the time with my 3 boys...never had a problem. Cheap mattress from Amazon Prime and tossed it after.
We packed extra sheets for it, but were told we could just ask for an extra set from Mousekeeping.

Thanks all. We get free checked bags with Delta (which we're flying) so I would probably just throw it in there. Since it's a twin it doesn't take up much room or weight. If I invest in a decent one I may bring it back home, unless the Disney souvenirs take precedence. :)

Do you have a link for the one you are bringing? We have a similar situation and I have been looking for a compact, lightweight solution.

I found this one from Walmart, but it is almost 18 pounds.

I agree, I can imagine how cramped it would be. It would make a BLT studio seem spacious. BRV, BWV, BCV and SSR rooms are within a square foot or 3 and are the same design, SSR not having the trundle bed in a studio. You are good to go, bringing one. We stay 4 in a studio and things get cramped when the sofa bed is open. We love OKW for the large studios and 2 real beds. But OKW has a limit of 4 in studios plus toddler under 3.

These are my front runners right now.

This one is 11 or 12 lbs depending on the information from the website that you find it at.

We have traveled with an inflatable twin mattress on two separate occasions. We used a suit case essentially just for that, packed a small travel air pump and a set of sheets. I was prepared to leave it behind if it didn't fold up nicely but it made it back both times. I will also add that the couch cushions make a lovely bed substitute if needed. We have done that on two occasions now and it's worked great.

Aerobeds are pricier (about $60-80 for a twin) but worth it. They inflate & deflate in seconds (built-in pump), don't lose air, weigh about 8lbs, & are as comfortable as many regular mattresses. We used to bring one in a carry-on (it had its own bag for storage) with sheets & room leftover.
We also wound up using ours at home when the kids had sleepovers.

Do you know what the fee is?

Have a split stay, moving from a two bedroom AKL to 2 one bedroom villas at BWV. I don‘t need it at AKL but Would it make more sense to have delivered to me while I’m at AKL and then transport to BWV so I’m sure to have it?

If you have something shipped to AKL, the rules would be this:
Receiving Mail

Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels can receive mail throughout their stay. Occasionally, some Guests choose to ship items in advance of their vacation to help save luggage space.
If you intend to receive mail during your vacation, be sure the letter or package:
  • Includes the mailing address of your Disney Resort Hotel
  • Clearly features the word “Guest” on the front and the date of your arrival
Please note that a $6 per package handling fee will apply to all packages that are received through the Front Desk or are delivered to your Disney Resort hotel room.

Pre-COVID, if you had something shipped to BWV, the rules would be different because BoardWalk has a convention center. Pre-COVID, if a hotel had a convention center and an item was shipped by UPS or FedEx, it was received at the convention center business office, and the business office charged a fee. But since BoardWalk Inn has not re-opened yet, I don't know if the BoardWalk's Convention Center Business Office is open.

The fee charged by the Convention Center Business Office:
Parcel Handling Fees
Handling fee includes receipt of item from carrier, storage for up to 3 days, onetime Guest package delivery or pickup, placing item with carrier for shipment, and tracking. Postage is not included.

Package WeightPackage Handling Fee
0 to 5 lbs$5
6 to 20 lbs$10
21 to 40 lbs$15
41 to 69 lbs$20
Display Cases 0-69 lbs$25
70 to 134 lbs$100
Over 135 lbs$0.75 per lb

Prices are subject to change.
