Uggggg..... I know this has been debated.... ad nauseam....but I need opinions. DD's best friend is having a surprise birthday dinner tonight. The family is going to be out of town on the weekend and decided to invite her friends for dinner at a local restaurant and make a surprise party, of sorts, out of it. DD spent alot of time this weekend choosing a gift for her friend. The Mom sent email invitations out weeks ago and when I just looked at it to confirm the time, I realized that it says.....Please, do not bring a gift.
So, I'm conflicted. Part of me thinks it is rude to disregard her parent's wishes. Part of me feels weird showing up to a party without a gift...period. Then there's the fact that the gift is already purchased. DD is very excited about the gift that she picked for her friend.
So would you just have DD bring the gift to dinner or should I hold onto the gift until the next time DD plays with her friend outside of school??
