Bright Idea or Dumb Idea?

Ok So I'm starting to strategize a little bit for my trip. What I think to be a brillant idea is that I would buy one of those neck things with the clip on the end and get a plastic holder to hold money, roomkey/hooperpass, Fastpasses and ID. I'll still have a small backpack for camera, suncreeen, ect.. but I figure this I won't have to get in and out of my pack as much.

I got this idea from my trips to Pac Bell Park (now SBC Park) to see the Giants play. People use it to hold their tickets.

So good idea or bad idea for WDW?

If it's a good Idea. Do you know where I can get my hands on a mickey themed neck holder.(Don't know what it's called)

I've already started to pack! :p

I think it's a great idea. I have a lanyard that has the plastic holder and use it the entire time I am there. I out my pass, license, and credit card in there so I don't have to carry a bag around. Works great!!! They also have something new in the parks too, it is a mickey pin that has a pull cord with the holder on it. It was really cool too.

There are many different styles of lanyards available at WDW (possibly even at your local Disney Store) While intended for Pin Trading (some even come with starter pins), they all have a hook/clip on the end.

OK, I'll do you one better. For our last couple of trips I did the lanyard thing, but in addition to the park passes, etc, I found larger plastic pouches to hang from the strap. I think they were 4"x6".

I then scanned the park maps found in the back of the Unofficial Guide to WDW. On one side of a sheet of 4x6 paper, I had the park map along with a prioritized list of attractions that we wanted to visit. FastPass rides were uniquely identified, as were those with height restrictions.

On the back of each card, I had printed the park hours for the week, schedule of events (fireworks, parades, etc.), PS dates/times/reservation numbers, and some general info like hotel name, cell phone numbers for our party, etc.

I liked having the smaller park maps much better than the big foldable things that WDW provides. For the most part we already knew our way around, so the maps were mostly used to agree on meeting places, visualize touring plans, etc. Those big park maps are great for spreading around on the floor of your hotel room, but I hate trying to fuss with them in the parks.

And having the PS info, park hours and other data easily accessible kept us from having to tote around loose sheets of paper.

The most important thing I carried on my lanyard is my camera. I hung my digital cam on it, never lose it, never fumbled with it, always ready to take a shot.

Hi tjkraz

I was wondering where you found the 4x6 pouches?

Thanks!!!

Office supply store--Office Depot, I believe. They weren't pre-punched with a hole, but that was simple enough to do myself. The more I think about it, I think the ones that I bought were closer to 3x5" in size, although they did have 4x6" as well. They came in a package of 10 or so, and were located near the presentation materials (plastic report slipcovers, photo album pages, etc.)
