We finally arrived at Disney's HHI resort yesterday. After an 11hour drive we checked into HHI around 4:30p. Room was ready. BUILDING 12 at the front of the resort. Room was clean but desperately needs updating.

Ate at San Miguels mexican restaraunt. It was ok, not great but not bad. Margaritas definitly weak. Lots of activity around the marina. We were beat so decided to head in early. Thats when the problem started.

Looking forward to reading your report as we will be arriving on 6/26.

But OH NO!! :scared1: What problems? What room are you in?

We are staying in a studio for 5 nights. There are no dedicated studios at HHI. To tone down the anticipated noise from the connecting room I stuffed a towel at the floor and door crack. Unfortunately this was not going to mute the noise from a SCREAMING BABY,A THREE YEAR OLD MELTDOWN AND A YELLING PARENT!

After about 5 hours and 11:00p at night, the noise stopped. I think the kids passed out asleep. The walls are very thin here. You can here evdrything; doors closing, walkway noise, people walking above. I was curious to compare this resort with Vero Beach. So far VB is far superior in the no noise category.

Noise started up again in tbe morning. This when i made tbe call to the front desk.

Oh, no. This doesn't sound good. I hope things improve for you.

I am on the resort wifi and the connection gets very waek at times. So have to keep the posts short!

All I can say is the CM 's are awesome! They totally understood. They had another studio for us, cleaned and ready by 11:30a!!! Funny, it is one floor up from our original room. But its the top floor and the family next door have older children ( 8,11).

Our new room had a new mini fridge, coffee maker, spotless and had a better view. Now we are ready to start over!!

The noise level is the only thing less than ideal at HHI. I think it has to do with the very high amount of plain wood. That's one reason I prefer a 1 BR at HHI, even though there;s just two of us-the connecting door to the studio is on the other side of the washer and dryer, and you can close the bedroom door to make it a little quieter. Hope it quiets down for you and you have a great rest of the week-at least good weather.

We will be staying in a studio as well. Any suggestions as to room requests?

I requested top floor, marsh view, no handicap room. I got all but one top floor. Now that I know, top floor is THE MOST important request. All the studios are at or near the main lodge. A few are under the Grand Villas. I can only imagine that noise with those hardwood floors!

So after we switched rooms, we went to the main pool. It is fairly small. We found the last two chairs. We had thought about going to the beach but we got a phone call that all of the beach parking was full and to take the shuttle. Hmmm, hope the rest of the week is not as crowded.

Everyone was well mannered at the pool and we enjoyed our short time there. It was very hot today.

It's no pleasure at home...I live in Manassas, Va, and it was 98 and very humid all weekend...BLECH.

Hope the rest of the trip is fab!

We decided to walk for our exercise today. Walked over to Shelter Cove mall and the mall where Piggly Wiggly is. CM gave us a map. It ended up to be a pretty far walk. About 4 miles total.

Many have said how close the beach is to the resort. We decided to walk to it this evening via the bike path from the resort. We walked 1 1/2 miles and still didn't see it. It was getting dark and we headed back. Almost 4 miles total on this walk.

We realize now that you need to drive your car every where here. I am disappointed that the beach is so far away. So the shuttle it will be.

I was wondering when you were going to go live with a TR.

Top floor is my usual request for a resort I haven't stayed at before. Learned that lesson when TK and I stayed on a middle floor unit at Marriott's Manor Club. Sound like a herd of elephants above us.:scared1:

Rent bikes! As for the walk to the beach, unless you are staying at one of the Marriott Big 3(Barony,Surfwatch, Grande Ocean, and you could add Monarch), you are going to have to walk/take a shuttle/drive to get to the beach.

We go to the beach first thing everyday so we get a spot. Actually we usually get a spot under the beach house so our van stays cool. But their beach is our must do everyday, absolutely love their calm water and packed down sand.

We do the main pool in the later afternoon/evening and never have a problem finding seats then.

Hope the rest of your stay is great.

We arrived on Sunday at 2:30pm. I was so surprised that our villa was ready, and since I did the online check in from home, it only took 5 minutes to get our packet and head for our villa. We're in building 16, kind of in the middle of everything.

Yesterday, DH dropped us off at the Beach House, then went to Piggly Wiggly to get groceries, where he proceeded to lock the keys in the car
He was going to take a cab back to the resort to get my keys, but when he asked at the store about calling a cab, they told him about a new shuttle service that had just started yesterday. The shuttle picked him up at the store, drove him to the resort, waited until he got the keys, then took him back to the Piggly Wiggly. The driver even helped DH carry the groceries into the villa. Talk about service! And did I mention that the shuttle was free? DH gave the driver a good tip.

I don't know what's different about this trip -- I don't usually sleep well away from home, but this bed is just right and I've been sleeping like a baby. Now we're getting ready to see "The Mental World of B'Lou" We love his stories!

Well sorry to report this trip has gotten worse. Again nothing that was Disney's fault.

Our car was hit in the resort parking lot by a huge Coca Cola truck making it's regular delivery. Messed up my bumper pretty good. Hopefully that's all as the car was parked. Driver swiped it. A CM witnessed the accident and confronted the driver! She said he needed to make a report at the front desk. We would learn he "faked" doing that ( went to the bathroom instead) and left. Basically a hit and run. He also got caught lying to his supervisor so we're sure he lost his job. Oh did I mention my brand new car is only 2 mos old?

Had to get police involved. Finally Coca Cola truck returned along with supervisor. Police charged him with the fault as both vehicles damaged substantiated the witness story.

We were so grateful for this CM involvement we gave her a dinner certificate to Parrots Cay. We told the resort manager to please recognize her and we will also be forwarding a nice letter.

We have decided to just go back home tomorrow. We have yet to see anything outside of the resort the two days we've been here. But we've lost our vacation " mood".

:grouphug: Wow, I'm sorry that all of this has happened. I suppose you're anxious to see exactly what the damage is to your car. What a shame!

I'm really interested in this shuttle service. I wonder whether it's an offering from Piggly Wiggly or the resort. It's probably only in season, come to think of it, and we tend to go off season.
B'leu is such a gentleman. Hopefully you'll get to see Shadow sometime-if you do, give her a scratch for me.

OMG-that's awful! And to think that guy then tried to be sneaky besides. Kudos to the CM for being there and getting involved.
