We stayed at KV at AKL from July 11 - July 18. The four of us, DW, D, S and self stayed in a Delux Studio Savannah View room.
Magical Express from MCO to the lodge.

very convienent no movie though, kind of a bummer there

, but the first nice moment of the trip was when we got off the bus and a cast member greeted us by name and welcomed us home.
Check in:

we tried to check in on line, not really sure if it worked and to be honest when we were shown to the front desk Im not sure if my wife told them we checked in on line, im kinda deaf... Check in took a while because the CM took a long time to find a room that was available for us, that was nice

but because he found an open room, he did not grant our request to be close to the lobby section of the resort

We were in room 4743, which is 5 sections away from the lobby. It made for a long walk to the lobby and bus stop, but we were close to the pool which my son and I enjoyed almost every day.
Room:

Very nice room, first floor (actually 2d floor of the Bldg) with a nice view of the savannah. We had a birds eye view of a nexting pair of blue cranes, who were sitting on an egg (artificial, the real egg had been removed and replaced with hopes of incubating it, the naturalist wasnt sure when we spoke with her if it was fertile or not), Okapi's spring bucks and two other elk/deer type animals whose names escape me. the male crane was very protective of the nest and we laughed as he chased various animals away from his nest

A/C pleasent surprise after trying to trick the ac at CSR, could set the AC at 66 and the room was like a fridge at the end of long hot days at the parks.

The room had a queen size bed, very comfortable, a couch which pulled out into a double bed, the mattress was kinda hard but you didnt feel any bars or sags and was comfortable. With the bed open, it really reduced the space in the room. the room had a 40 odd inch flat screen with a dvd palyer and a separate box with connections for game devices (i think)
the "kitchen"

was in the hall way with a coffee pot, fridge microwave, disposible plates bowls and utensils and cleaning materials including paper towels, dishwashing soap, sponge and towel.
the bathroom:

was very nice, in its own room with a separate room for the toilet, very large vanity with lots of storage space and a very nice bath/shower combo.
Lobby;

a smaller version of the Jambo house lobby (a lot smaller!) with funky glass torches, and nice view of the main savannah. (which had zebras, giraffes and ostriches and others) in the afternoons they had WIE set up on tvs in the lobby, they had naturalists speaking some evenings in a community rooom, some drum teaching and other activities.
Gift Shop:

My only real complaint about the resort (besides the drab siding of the building itself) It is really too small with too small a selection for a resort with so many rooms. I can only compare it to CBR and CSR, plus the Jambo house, and all three gifts shops are many times the size of this one. It had a small selection of fresh fruit but i really missed the baked goods available at cafe rix at CSR.
Pool;

again very nice and the CMs had a number of ongoing activities for kids at the pool. the slide was alot of fun, although i though the pool should have been half again bigger for the size of the resort.
Sanaa(sp?) very pretty resturant, the nite we ate there it was not very busy and i think you could walk up and get a table there pretty easily. I had a very good steak, but the patato and spinach side salad wasnt very good. the other 5 diners enjoyed their dinners and deserts, only complaint was that with a party of 6 we got an interior booth that didnt have a great view of the savannah, the tables on the window from what I could see were for parties of 4.
Bus Service: the busses were great and KV was the last stop on the way to the parks and the first stop comming back from the parks with the exception of the Downtown disney, typhoon lagoon bus. the DD TL bus was my only complaint

with the bus system. we got on at about 6:25pm for DTD and arrived at the second DTD stop for our 7:00pm dinner ressie at wolfgang puck at about 7:20pm. It was so bad that the evening we went to TL, we spent 20$ and took a cab. It was money well spent as our SIL and Nicece were with us and parked at our resort and took the bus to TL from AK and it took over an hour for them to get there
overall we loved the resort and would return there again
