My ILs are snowbirds, and own homes both here and in FL. MIL was toying with getting FL resident tickets for her and FIL.

It seems the highest number of days for which Florida resident tickets are available is 4 days. We wanted to do 5 days. They will not use and AP (I can't wrap my brain around that!!!!).

Is it possible for them to buy the 4 days with FL resident prices and then pay the $100 for a 1 day ticket? They are getting park hopper. Do they have to buy 2 hoppers anyway, one to cover the 4 day tickets (in which we will hop) and 1 to cover the single day add on ticket (in which we won't hop).

Thanks everyone!!

Q1: of course, anyone can buy a full price one day ticket. It will not be added to their current ticket, but separate.

Q2: the hopping option would need to be added to each ticket because they are separate. But you don't have to add it to both.

Note, I am just directly answering your questions. There may be a better approach to doing this. But I'm not current on the upgrade rules for FL resident tickets.

I would look into a week day select pass or a season pass. They are technically considered "AP" but they are cheaper options, you just have to check into the block-out dates. Plus they'll get all the discount perks and stuff!

They need to get a Florida Resident Seasonal Pass, which I believe has the same blackout dates as a regular Florida resident tickets.

By the time they purchase a FL resident 4-day pass with hoppers, plus a one-day ticket with hopper, it is actually over $40 CHEAPER to purchase the FL Resident Seasonal Pass. And that pass includes hopping.

EDIT: Even if you don't add the hopper option to the one-day ticket, the Seasonal Pass is still almost $10 cheaper. Plus there are some discounts you can use with it. And of course then they can use it other times as well.

4 day florida resident ticket w/ parkhopping and a 1 day w/ parkhopping = 421.75
A seasonal Pass (has blackout dates) includes parkhopping, 10%off merchandise, room discounts and dining discounts at select restaurants (same benefits as AP)= 350.39

Saving over $70 each

And if they don't plan on going on the weekends and don't go doing the summer, they could get a Florida Resident weekday select pass for just under $240 which includes park hopping and discounts.

Keep in mind that the Seasonal Pass & Weekday Select Pass do not include free parking at the theme park.

It is just silly to buy the 4 day & 1 day, especially if they are buying the park hopper. Seasonal or weekday select is the way to go Be sure to tell them to bring proof of residency (tax bill, utility bill, bank statement - with both their names on) to get any type of Fl ticket.
