Bridging a ticket?

Sorry if this is a simple answer but the whole bridging a ticket thing has me completely confused.

We are at DW in January. My mom is coming with us, and we are getting APs but my mom is not.

She may or may not need to park hop. She may or may not need to go 5 days (and 4 days might suffice).

If she were to get a 4 or 5 day non hopper, and upgrade to a hopper on day 3, is there a price advantage to bridging?

Alternatively, if she were to buy a 4 day but on the 4th day decide she wants an extra day, what would she pay?

Where do you go to bridge a ticket? Do the discounted sites (Undercover tourist) help with the pricing on bridging?

I also read that Amex is offering a $30 discount at UT good through dec 31st. We are hoping to use this discount.

Any help is much appreciated!!

Ps-- another question... If you have non expiry tickets and used up some, but not all of the days, can you use that to bridge to an AP (let's say gold level, for example)? If so, what is the calculation and process?

Thank you-- these price increases on the tickets have started hurting our pocketbooks so trying to figure out how to mitigate the financial effects while still enjoying our dvc and going to DW

Price bridging is simply getting the full retail price of your ticket applied to the upgrade cost of a higher priced one.
If a ticket is purchased directly from Disney there would be no need for bridging (as you already paid the full retail price for your ticket UNLESS there was a price increase since the ticket was bought). If you buy from a discounted reseller like UT price bridging works like this-use the ticket at least once to "lock in" the current gate price then go to guest services. They should charge you either $10 plus tax to go from 4 days to 5 days (that is current gate price difference between a 4 and 5 day ticket) or $64 plus tax to add on the hopper option. Note the hopper option is not prorated so you will pay the same if you add on day one or halfway through trip.

From everything I have read you can only upgrade tickets within 14 days from the first use so I would think the answer to that would be no (I'm assuming you meant tickets used on a past trip)
