All in all, wonderful trip. (our three family trips have been "great, better, best") Got to see/experience a lot of things we'd missed (or kids were too young for) on previous trips. Would have liked a few more days to experience more of Epcot (instead of just walking around it), and see more shows at MGM at AK, but had seen most before anyway. Wasn't much fun to pack up and move mid-stay, but managed to do it pretty quickly (we brought two large suitcases...one for ASMo, one for Swan, in addition to a couple of little ones for things we'd need in both locations), and was worth it to be at Swan for two nights (mainly for the convenience). Bummer of the whole trip was freezing cold Grotto pool at Swan/Dolphin. Highlights were:

- Fantasmic, TON, Illuminations, MSEP
- Fastpass! Loved walking by the poor people who can't read or reason.
- PSes - first time we'd used more than a couple - saved loads of time and turmoil
- pools and waterparks (always a favourite with Canadians who leave mounds of snow behind)
- Pirate Cruise (kids who went on it and parents who didn't all loved it) - would not have known about this without the DIS

Also, for anyone planning a half-beach/half-WDW trip, it's really great to have the relaxing beach/family visit portion AFTER the busy WDW part...It was soo nice to relax by a pool for several days to recover, and nicer still not to feel as if we needed a vacation after our vacation!

That's it in a nutshell,

Bridget

Thanks for all your nice comments. This was my first trip report (also first trip with the DIS), and I'm glad I took the time to do it. I know I picked up a lot of tips and had lots of laughs reading others' reports, and it sure does help to pass the time while waiting for a next trip. I'm also glad I'll have the report for me and my brood to look back on too!

p.s. Know what you mean about the weather Hockey Mom, it's been a long winter - thank God for a Dis break and good weather down there...often dream of retiring to Florida...
Supposed to warm up a lot today though!

Thanks for posting your excellent report, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Thanks for the funny and informative report...it has really gotten me in the mood for Disney!!! Hey, it actually hit 60 degrees here in Massachusetts on Saturday, first time in over 110 days!!!! I, too, am dreaming of a warm retirement!

Can you answer a question-Did your son and daughter still like to collect autographs from characters. You mentioned that in Toontown you were able to walk by them. Did they feel they were too old? We are going next year- It will be our 3rd trip and am worried some of the magic will be gone for my son who will be 9.

Jan-can, great trip reports! Thanks for sharing!

I really enjoyed reading your trip reports! I guess now I know why my dd didn't take a second trip down the slide at the grotto pool. Thanks for taking the time to write them!

Wow, I guess I haven't been logging on to the DIS as often as I used to (since I'm suffering from Post-Trip Traumatic Dis-Order), and I really appreciate all your nice accolades.

In response to the autograph book question, my kids only collected six autographs this time (two on 1st day at AK and four at the Ice Cream Social), as compared with 30ish on each of our previous trips. It is true that a bit of the magic seems to disappear once the kids realize that the characters are people too, but there are some good things too (more touring time, and other kinds of magic, like "first big-kid ride," first ride w/o parents (my kids loved this), and they're at a great age for shows like DH Saloon review, which mine are still raving about. I think Disney is fun and magical for all ages, and I hope you all have wonderful trips too!

I read all of your trip reports and enjoyed each one. Your writing style is easy to read, light hearted, informative and very entertaining.

Thanks so much for taking the time and trouble to write and post these reports I had a lot of fun reading them.
