Anyone else love this book as a child and want to go see the movie????
I told my kids yesterday that I want to take them to see it....the reaction from both  ok mom...:lmao: (but they are so going with me :teeth:!)

my DD can't wait to see this movie. DH and I are fighting about who has to take her because neither one of us want to see it! I think I may win this one because I had to sit through "Just My Luck" with Lindsey Lohan, so the least he can do is take her to see this!!

I am hoping it will be a pleasant surprise for him.

maybe we have the wrong kids...:lmao: :lmao:

send her on over.....I'll take her!!! :teeth:

The film does look "neat", like it would be a better film than Eragon, in the same genre.

I haven't seen that one....we will probably wait until it comes to DVD though.

My DD read the book and loved it....but she has no desire to see the movie....:confused3

I am surprisd that so many people are saying their kids have no interest. I have to admit that I never read the book as a kid (OK, never heard of it.) BUT the preview looks really good! I like that little girl from Winn Dixie (dont know her name). I bought the book last night for my daughter so we can read it before we go see it. My kids are 7, 5 and 33 (hubby) and they all want to go see it!

My DD12 is reading the book at the moment so when the movie comes out, we can go see it.
Anytime a movie is coming out that has been a book, I always like to have her read it first....then she can compare the two. As you know, the book is usually better.

yup...I agree with that....that's why you have to read the book first!!!

I remember watching the original Terabithia movie when I was in grade school.....wow that was like 20 years ago. hmmm...I will have to see if I can netflix that. I am sure the Disney version will be much better.:)

My son wants to see it but now I hear its a tearjerker, and I really don't care for tearjerkers. It got such good reviews though. I may just have to bite the bullet and take him and get over myself sobbing in the movie theatre. DS read the book 3 times and has been looking forward to its opening in the theatres, so I guess I'll sacrifice. I've already promised to take him.

I had never heard of it either, then I saw it was published in 1977. I was already a teen by that time, so I guess I missed it in its first run. DS was surprised I don't remember him reading the book, but I have no recollection of it at all.

I have heard it was sad, and there is a Very Sad Thing that happens (that is actually how the Boston Globe reviewer wrote it, so as not to give it away). I would like to take my kids to see it over this week's Feb vaca, but they are 8, 6, and 4. Too much? I would be interested if any DISer sees it over the weekend, let us know!

Would a 4 year old like this movie is it ok for them

I doubt it. The book has some pretty heavy themes that would probably be too deep for a 4 year old. I can't imagine that it would be an entertaining movie like an animated Disney flik would be.

My 14 year old has no interest of course so we will probably wait for video. I'm looking forward to the reviews.

I first read Bridge to Terabithia in the third grade and fell in love! It is my favorite book to this day! Katherine Paterson did a wonderful job! I still have the original book I read in the third grade because the librarian gave me the book because I took it out every single week!!

I was all excited when I first heard they were coming out with the movie then I seen the trailer and was disappointed! The trailers weren't like the book!?!

I then caught a show that talked about what they were doing as far as the "monsters" went and it enabled me to understand what I had seen.

I will watch the movie! I have to! I just hope that they do not deviate that far from the story because the book held so many wonderful lessons and that is what I hope kids take away from the movie not all the cool special effects.

Please Please Please spoil the ending for me! My dd 5 really wants to see this and to boot has made arrangements with her teacher and teachers nephews for all of us to go see it this weekend. I have never read the book as I was very young when it came out. :confused3 I would really like to know about the sad event that happens - so that I can either prepare my dd for it or try to get her interested in doing something else with her teacher. If you do not wish to reply here please pm me!!

Thanks in advance!!
